Alan/Andy, since you lads are handy with spanners and ting's do you know where I can get hold of a cheap drill gauge and a hole gauge. I found a place locally in Livingston but the gauges were far too small and too high-tech (read expensive).
Just a simple plastic card with pre-drilled holes for checking drill bit diameters and the opposite for checking the bores of tubes, pipes, etc.. is what I'm after.

Stef,
Get ur self a cheap vernier m8
Cheap 1s come in anywhere from like 5 - 10 brick or push the boat out n get an electronic 1 ( 1/2 decent 1`s from around £20 ish)
Or go really bananas n get a mitoyoto vernier, (price varies significantly depending on supplier, average £60 - £100) excellent piece of kit. Electronic vernier with dual anvils for interior & exterior measurement and depth gauge all in 1. A bit more expensive but worth it for the hardcore engineer.

Hi lads.
Managed to find a cheap plastic drill bit gauge (£1.95) which is one way of checking diameter of hoses, wires and pipes. Also, Axminister sell a digital vernier for about £27
Where do you guys normally buy tools? Any hidden Aladdin's caves you don't mind sharing with us?
Cheers,
Stefan
