Off to visit family who moved there...

Any one know any roads in the surrounding area i should check out - maybe take in the odd detour?

What is the "boys in blue" coverage like

Cheers

Dumfries? Good driving country - even head a little further east around Moffat/Biggar/Selkirk some awesome roads quiet double track. I would say look out for the plod though - Dumfries coppers tend to monitor the road quite a bit in my experience, picked up my new Scoob from Penicuik the other week and drove back via Moffat couple of separate speed traps but I was just running in so never got nabbed. You'll enjoy it.....regardless...

The A702 Dalveen Pass just off the A76 after Thornhill, is pretty good, with a nice mixture of twisties and fast sweeping bends, with a 200ft drop into an abyss to keep things interesting.

If you're there this coming weekend, bear in mind that the Scottish Rally is on and is based in Dumfries - I'd expect the odd speed trap or two
