Ozzy, we could always get a consortium on the go, you, me and Chrisy to start, build our own race team
Kindness! Feeling threatened by the presence of your track day toy i felt some retaliation was in order I did have that MI16 205 as i said but i sold it foolishly, but hey, we all have moments of weakness
How's the supra going anyway? When's the next time you'll be at crail and i'll have a wee nosey
By the looks of things the amount of people showing interest in track cars we'll be able to hire the full track out between us
I'll keep you all posted on the progress and if anyone knows of anyone selling such cars please let me know

i've had a few thoughts on getting one myself recently, at the glasgow auctions i spotted a few fiesta xr2i's, some with some meaty engine mods, dont take much to strip out & race prepare. there was a dark grey coloured one went for £350 and it was perfect for the job.
if your interested in a business partner to split the costs give us a shout....

Yep, the temptation is indeed getting too much, doubt it'll be as much fun as the cossie though The idea of it was to use it occasionally as well if i'm driving to any more, how shall i say this, more undesirable areas that i wouldn't leave the scoob. On the other hand, i could be interested in your proposition and just get another small car for going to work and for that purpose. Feel free to e-mail me with what you would like to do and we'll see if we could work something out. After all, it would only cost about the price of a set of tyres for the impreza
Plus of course, the benefits of fearlessly being able to mix it up with the crazy crew at the Knockhill hot hatch days

Langy mate - my mate and I are embarking on the very same venture looking for a 205 gti. Some well ropey ones out there, but for track purposes could do the job.
Good luck finding one - my mate and I can be an opposing team for ya LOL!!

Might also add........thought hot hatch days were frowned upon by the upper crust impreza owners? i.e. not mixing the with the supposed 'boy racer' element incase they get hammered by a nova/corsa/205 and the like? I got done over in my Lotus Carlton by a mk2 escort with cossie running gear and though it aint a great feeling, hat off to the guy for the result.
Hmmm....i've been a knockie goer for many many years and will be long after my impreza has gone bye byes.

Opposing team eh? Bring it on
The worst of it is i had a good one with an MI16 in it that i took as a part ex on one of my old cars, with a lot of goodies on it. Didn't really want it lying about so sold it for an un-mentionably low price
Too dear to take the Scoob on the track, plus it's more fun when you don't need to worry about the car and can go to the hot hatch days IMO

Steven,
I've seen a few Pug 205 GTI's for around £300-£500 depending on the usual age, mileage, condition, etc.. They've been trade forecourts, so should be cheaper if you can find one privately.
I want out on track, but won't risk the Scooby either. Maybe on one-to-one tuition at Knockhill or with Don Palmer or even Kames, but not with other folk driving £500 cars around Knockhill.
I've been thinking about doing this too, but I don't have a garage (although I've been looking to move house). That would mean selling the Scoob and getting something more civilised as a day-to-day car I don't wanna face that
Anyway, if you ever need some help or a pair of additional hands just give us a shout.

I was gonna say... i thought you had a 205 going spare.... but that was last summer wasnt it!
prob best to look for an already converted Mi16 205 than doing the coversion

Buy a sunbeam track car.
Pug 205 sized, rwd, much more fun.
Just happen to know someone with one for sale ........
Only a bit more expensive at circa 1200. Come with cage, bucket seat, and harnesses.

Had the same thought about a track car for a while now.
Just haven't seen anything that takes my fancy though.
Would prefer top have a car already modded ( not got a garage, but got a fenced off driveway.)
