OK - So I'm poor
The new gearbox, engine and clutch have taken their toll on Mr VISA but still not wanting to compromise on the old boots
Anyone know where can I get these locally for decent money?
PS Cheapest so far is Hays in Penicuik at £90+VAT (205/50/16)

Mytyres.net still selling the Toyos for £70 but I'm not 100% convinced with the Toyos. They are certainly 'very progressive' but I'm not convinced with their 'out and out' grip.
Now that the fronts are well worn (1-2mm) on edges with 3-4 inside, I would say the are verging on the downright dangerous
Just fancy trying the F1's as have only heard excellent things about them
If can't get the F1's locally or at a decent price then will have no hesitation about ordering more Toyos (can't argue with 4 for £280) but would prefer the F1's......

A bit more research has revealed that the F1's are an even softer compound than the Toyos
So maybe mytyres.net will get another order for another 4 trusty progressively sliding Toyos

Si,
Mytyres Toyo's out of stock and they're not expecting new stock for a few weeks. I'm probably ordering from Blackcircles.co.uk. Bit more expensive than Mytyres @£70 each but carriage to where I live is cheaper.
Kevin.
p.s. 3rd set of Toyo's - still well impressed and in the wet they're ace.

SiPie,
Scoobyworld do the Toyo's for £78 all-in (although you'd need to get them fitted locally). I bought my set from them recently.
I must admit though, having switched from the F1's to the Toyo's I'm not convinced on their performance. My car feels like there just isn't any grip and it's not inspiring confidence in the car at all.
Having said that, I check the tyre pressure and the fronts were 34psi, backs were 16psi and 22psi I'd set them all to 34psi about 4 weeks ago when I was on my way up North hill walking.
They are very progressive and the whole car will slide very controllably - not excessive over or understeer, but they just start sliding far too soon. I've done about 1500miles on them so they should be scrubbed in by now.
I think it's time to experiment with pressures, then alignment/geometry.
If I can't find an improvement, it's back to the F1's. My original PZeros were better; even in the wet

i had s02s on the car in 16" form...
good in dry... not very goot in wet.. understeer city... coz there was no grey zone from grip to slide
then had toyos... not as grippy in the dry.. but progressive in the wet... did inspire me with confidence..
i used 32/33 front and 30/31 rear
now on 17" F1s.. but the older kind...
seem better than the toyos... in that they have more neutral characteristics... had to tell coz of the 17" over 16"
i am looking forward to getting the new F1s when these are done in... tho that might a few miles...
my dad has F1s on his car... vectra.. dunno what they are like for performance.. because.. well.. they are on the vectra
but they do seem soft.. but very similar pattern to the toyos...
alot more expensive i think tho..

my mate colin has just put f1s on the vr6, replacing toyo proxies, i loved the proxies, (h20) has them, but the f1s are superb on the vr6, so i am thinking f1s for h2o,
anybody else any ideas???????
cheers robin.

then alignment/geometry
I've gone from subaru geometry settings to falkland ones and felt a huge difference, they back to subaru settings and the car sucked so much that I couldn't be ar5ed to drive it fast at all! I'm now back to falkland settings and guess what, it feels great again

Just got Goodyear F1's from A.F Noble in Penicuik when I got my car serviced. They might have more in stock and you can get their number off the Subaru website.
See earlier thread on new gearbox/clutch and engine all in 5 months
Thanks for info re the tyres.... Hard to judge if it's the recent greasy roads that have contributed to the severe drop in Toyo grip
Stefan
They are very progressive and the whole car will slide very controllably - not excessive over or understeer, but they just start sliding far too soon.
So in summary ...mytyres.net (when in stock) will do the proxes for £282.80 and the best F1 price (discounted)to date is £423
Therefore.....Do the Goodyears merit the extra £140 based on performance gains when they are going to wear out even quicker then the Toyos?
