Question

From BBC News Scotland website

Police hunt speed camera vandal

Police in Aberdeen are to question every driver caught speeding on the A96 near the airport in a bid to catch a vandal who set fire to a speed camera. Fire crews managed to extinguish the blazing equipment just after midnight on Tuesday.

Thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused.

But Superintendent Dave Cormack from Grampian Police says the camera still holds vital evidence.

Hmmm, It isn't a digital camera is it?

So how would the film manage to not melt under the intense heat?

They're going to question all the speeders?
Surely they don't expect someone to put their hands up and say 'it's a fair cop!' , especially not if they've just been done!

One down, 7,000 to go...

Hmmm

No doubt the camera was in a black spot outside a school and someone felt they needed to illuminate the danger area....

Seriously. Where exactly was the camera located. Does anyone know?

I assume its the camera just as you enter the 40mph speed zone at Bucksburn from Blackburn (as the report says near the airport)

Now we only need to get rid of the 20 or so cameras on the A90 especially the ones behind the signs "not that the police would deliberately hide speed cameras oh-no".

I can't say I've seen ones behind signs on the A90. The one thats near to it is not directly behind a sign but you don't see it till the last minute is northbound sout of Stonehaven (3rd Pitskelly sign).

There was one at Stracathro that was behind a sign, I think they made it more visible.

It was the camera outside Marshalls Trailers, where the Kingswell / Short cut to the Airport joins.

Seems most of them on the Aberdeen - Dundee road have had signs moved etc. Mind you if people cant even see the new one just as you enter the 40 limit coming north into Aberdeen....something like 8000 speeders caught since xmas...now count that lot up at 60 quid a punt.

See we now got to contend with Lazer speed guns now

Paul - 8000 speeders = £480,000 in the coffers of the law/government
