Just a reminder that the SIDC have a track event booked for Saturday 8th March from 9am to 1pm.

We are a bit low on numbers compared to normal so far, so could do with the interest level increasing a bit

Looks like I'll have even more trouble trying to get Scoobys in my Videos. Finished editing the Video stuff from last year at long last. As the season went on it was harder to find Scoobys in my videos to include.

My first time on track was at the SIDC Knockhill session last March and for anybody that hasn't been on then I can thoroughly recommend it. Where else can you explore the power of your car without worying about speed cameras and checks.

If I do manage to get some odds and sods sold and manage on then anybody is welcome to some pax runs.

Iain

Would be good to see the vid that u made.

If you do make it to knockhill, would be good to get a passenger lap
Perhaps you could ask for donations for ur laps... so u could afford it...
i know id give a donation

I 'bumped' into the local boys 'n blue at the weekend and the bloke (Scooby owner) was talking about some of the other PC's coming along so be on your best behaviour

Is it an SIDC-only event?

Never been on track but feel now is the time!

Guys,

you can sign up at http://shop.sidc.co.uk in the track days section. There's different rates for SIDC members and non-members.

Spoken to Ronnie at Wheels Around, and they are hoping to be there. Will confirm in the next few days.

Warning - it may be cold and wet, so it would be a brave decision to go out on slicks!

Foz - Ronnie can supply you with very reasonably priced tyres if you want to scrub your old ones on track (which you won't if it's wet!). That way you can go home on nice shiny new road legal tyres

Passenger System - A quick way would be to use Green "P" plates, could also Red "L" plates for first time drivers (I did that on my first outing at Knockhill). After that I just used Skye's "Child Onboard" sign, which seemed more appropriate.

Cool

If anyone's nervous about taking their own car out due to tyre wear, brake wear etc, check this site out :

www.TrackDayCarHire.com

The guy who owns it will be there and is willing to do a 1/3 share in the westie with 2 others to keep costs down. Cost would be £60 each, plus 1/3 of petrol used [£8 ish], plus the track day entry is 1/3 cost too (as the cost is by car not driver) so under £85 all-in.

He's planning on doing either 10-15 minute slots shared between 3, or drive [in 10-15 minute sessions] within one 80 minute slot each. Driving solo is subject to the owner being present for some some passenger laps, but as long as you're sensible, the car is yours for your share of the session.
Seems like a pretty good deal to me, but I'm out the country that weekend so can't make it .

The companies got nothing to do with me, but I like to help out local businesses and it seems like a good way to get out on the track without shredding your own tyres and brakes !! He offered me the above deal but when I said I couldn't make it that weekend he said let friends know and he'll do the same deal. Contact details are on the website.
Cheers

Dave,

I think you'll find that the Megablade is booked out for this coming event. It is however booked in to attend all our Knockhill events this year, so if you want some fun at the later events, then get in touch with Willie pronto

Foz,

bump the tyre pressures up to 40psi all around, and wear on the tyres will be minimal. At least any wear would be all over the tyre, and not just at the shoulders.

If it's damp, then tyre wear is at an absolute minimum anyway.

Numptie - I take it you are loking forward to the Megablade experience
