Moz,
It's two and a bit hours from Preston (or 3 and a bit for you) so going up Saturday evening's still the best idea.
We could either stop at the services again (and chance another dodgy breakfast) or maybe stay at the pub in Muirkirk if anyone else is arriving early.

Dougster - just posted out an e-mail to virtually evryone who has attended a Kames/Knockhill event in the past 12 months inviting them along. Hopefully get the numbers up a bit. I've mentioned the possibility of camping, so hopefully get a few people interested
Sadly I won't be along at this one , as I'll be moving offices that weekend (new e-mail address on the 2nd which I don't know yet - the john@sidc.co.uk one will still work though). It was planned for this weekend, but myself and a few others were bumped to the following weekend.

Off to Stelvio 2002 followed by Tuscany Towers at the beginning of September, so unfortunately will not be able to make it.
Dont know if you saw it, but my car went in for an engine rebuild on the Monday after the last Kames. I was very lucky to get away without a blown engine, as one piston was cracked the length of the skirt, one big end shell was split and the rest knackered, and all the rings were badly worn.
Did not trace the cause of the oil burning though(BG)
However she still did me proud over the weekend.
We fitted forged pistons and heavy duty shells, and that did the trick. N1 TUT is now a smoke free zone.
Slight drama coming into the hairpin at Knockhill at the SIDC meet last week. The front brake disk exploded, pedal went to the floor, and I think I set a new record speed for taking the corner.
Best of luck on the 1st, and hope you get a good turnout.

I'll consider the event tonight, but looks like it'll be cancelled. Glad you had some fun without the engine actually letting go !!

Do you want me to see if some of the SS-R guys would be able to come along. Kames is a popular venue with them. Let me know asap so that I can see what interest there would be.

John,
How many are in and how many do you need. There are a lot of track virgins out here,(yes including myself), who feel a bit under pressure when asked to take their car out on track.
I know I am ready, and a few others, that may be more than willing with a little bit of encouragement.
I know one scooby owner that is in need of a trailer that would love to take part.
Don't know how to overcome the initial 'how u doin' I'm "username"'
but I know that people that I have talked to on-line have been standing next to me at Crail,KH or Star without either party being aware. Then finding out later this was the case.
Loads of non-trackers turn up at these events as you know, but feel intimidated by the regulars(wonder who they are!). Encouragement of the regulars to haul a few spectators in to their cars will gain more interest.
What do others think because I think this is a great community which could be expanded on even further.`

Quite agree with encouraging people onto track. So glad I got a passenger lap around Crail in an Elise S2 earlier this year. That set my ball rolling less than 6 months ago. Can't keep me off the tracks now. May not be as fast as some cars but the venues all offer different types of driving to suit all tastes. Kames is great fun and nobody worries how fast or slow you go around (well John does worry a little bit about how fast you go if you are getting near his times) The last time I was at Knockhill I took 13 passengers out in 2 hours (we all know what happened to passenger 13) Always offer people at Kames passenger laps and have gone round it with many others and had great fun. Still don't know everybody's names but find everyone very friendly. Hopefully we can get some more people to come along and have a go, even if it means I don't get the chance to beat my 102 laps in one day.

Have posted a link to this thread on the SS-R site in case anybody is interested. I am away for the day, leaving very early tomorrow morning so will not be able to check replies to later in the day.

Nice one Iain,
Need to get name badges made. Completley ridiculous I know but they work. I used to be in the girl guides so I'll knit them!
Any more suggestions? E-mail PAX requests, names in hats, numbers????

John,
How short are we on the numbers ?
I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd still be more than happy to do the day for twice the price ... if that's what it took to keep it on
