Visiting Scotland and have a couple of questions
#1
Hello fellow Scooby drivers. I am a WRX owner from Remlap, Alabama. I will be visiting Scotland next month and was wondering about a few things. What are the current gas prices you are seeing? About how long does it take to get from Perth to Edinburgh and finally someone on another board here suggested finding someone to give me a ride in a real Scooby? Are there any meets going on the second weekend in August?

P.S. I only live in Alabama, not born there.

Hallo
77p per litre for Optimax is about average ive seen.
Perth to Edinburgh takes about an hour - depends on traffic - its dual carriageway all the way... only takes about 30 mins to get to the forth road bridge from perth.
im sure someone will be able to answer your other questions

From Knockhill race circuit web page:
Future dates to note are: -
British Touring Cars – August 10th / 11th
Hot Hatch and Stunt Day – August 18th ( Nova-load me thinks?? )
------------------------------------------
As for gas prices ....TOO FECKIN MUCH !!
I am sure a meet could be organised and I am off both weekends! so lets see what we can arrange for our guest ??
you never know I may even have something that will resemble brakes by then
Paul
ps. I am sure Alabama isn't that bad that you are trying to dissociate yourself from the place already

Damn, didn't expect this response so quickly. Thanks all for the posts. We are leaving the country on the 15th. So the one evening run is out. Otherwise we have some plans but can work around that.
As for Alabama, I was raised in NW Florida and its a regional thing. Saturday in Perth might be a good time for a meet. I think that is to be a whisky day so probably in the evening. We are actually staying in Pitlochry.

August 10-11th is BTCC. I do not know about any other events and don't have my Scoob any more(it wasn't fast enough anyway).
Don't let his cheeky wee comment re not fast enough put you off. What he he did not tell you is that he had a Impreza sport.

Thank you for all of the posts.
Just to put things in perspective.
I am paying $1.49 a gallon for 93 Octane. Thats £1 a gallon for you. Compare that with the $4.58 a gallon price you quoted I'm wondering if the rental was the right way to go.
It was 94 degrees F today and 70% humidity. Safe to say I will be bundled up during most of my trip. I look forward to meeting some of you folks tasting the whisky and local beers, and enjoying the twisty Scottish roads.

Jeff,
Remember there are only 16oz in a US pint, compared to 20oz in a UK pint, so a US gallon is only 80% of the quantity of a UK one. Our gallons are still much more, and much too, expensive though
