Couple of my mates have seen a fully marked up EVO 6 or 7 - worryingly they don't know the difference - kicking around in Edinburgh. Guess there ain't much point trying to get away from one of those Unless you have a certain 350bhp WRX

It's an Evo 6 - seen it a couple of times
Why do they need it?
- do they often have to give chase to street racers chancing their luck?
- is it a show of strength?
If it's justified, then fair enough, but I need convincing....

Rich,
I`d say u r probably right m8
It`ll b a case of "we`ve got this so don`t try it"
But like they say u can have the tools but if u don`t know how 2 use them there`s no point

It's defo a statement and I think it works. Was chatting away to some mates about it and we agreed that it would take a real fool to try and outrun one! Fortunately such occassions are very rare and the Volvo's are fast enough but it would take the most mental of criminals or druggies to look in his rear view and think 'I can loose that' Can't wait to see it

IMHO - you've got to be pretty foolish to try to out run any police car.
- what if they catch you? if you have a faster car it does not guarantee a clean getaway..
- what if they've already clocked your reg.?
...but yes, I suppose an Evo 6 in your mirrors seals the deal...

No normal person (surely) would try to be so foolish. But if some little tw@t has just nicked a scooby and the police EVO appears behind him he'll probably give up cause that way he'll only get done for the theft as opposed to multiple counts of dangerous driving and speeding if he tries (and likely fails) to get away.

Midlands police have a Sti7 Scoob all done out in fancy decals, It's based on a blue one so it just looks like an International rally car !!!
Now if we could just tempt them North for a wee bit comparison, then seek a volunteer to 'do a runner' It's bound to make it on to Police-Camera-Action !!
I'm sure the 'runner' would then have plenty time to watch the video at the crown's expense
PS On 'Driven' they used a Saxo as the hare

Good to see the local plod making good use of the tax dollars, or is it from the 'speed trap enforcers money making machine.
Having run an Evo for two years I know the costs involved and folks, me and you are paying for their fun being able to speed legally.
With service intervals every 4500 miles this must equate to around every two to three weeks it will be off the road at Western Mitsu.
Having a range of roughly 150 miles they will be filling it up around every two hours, when on duty....roughly four fill ups per shift at £120, make that £240 including nightshift, around £1600 per week on fuel If they boot it then a range of 100miles or less.
I wonder if Mitsu will honour there warranty when the engine goes bang. Do you think they are under instructions to use SUL only.
I might bring a few Kudos to the L&B Force, but his is not a good choice of pursuit car and I don't think it'll be on the road for very long.

Valid point EVO. I hadn't thought of that, must cost a fortune to run around in that all day. Still they will need it to catch the blue EVO that past me on the A1 this morning. Let just say I was showing a velocity over the speed limit - never know speedo might be out - and he passed me like I was in reverse! I'd guess best part of 140-50mph In fairness it was pretty quiet and I was chuffed to see an EVO flying but city!

Off topic a bit, but...
The garage in Whitecraig that used to be Brandon Motor Company is now a Mitsubishi dealer (Western?)
Does anyone know what happened to Brandon Motor Company?

Mike, unsure about the Mitsu dealer. Brandon lost the TVR dealership to Logik over 6 months ago, since then they have been selling a lot of imported sports cars, Evo, scoob, Porsche..etc. If anything has changed it has been just recently, as they have been advertising in the autotrader.

Prior to being in whitecraig that garage used to be on Buckstone Terrace about 3 min walk from my house. Was gutted when it moved! So where are the TVR's now?

Brandon sold out to Eastern-Western Group years ago. Bought a couple of Pug 205s from them when they had a Pug dealership. (Bit of a problem that - they had the dealership at Whitecraigs but sold cars from Buckstone as well which hacked off the other Pug dealers). Alan MacDonald used to be the boss at Buckstone - he went on to manage the TVR dealership once they'd been bought out.
