I think so, I posted up for your attention about 3 weeks ago but you weren't on for a few days and missed it. Basically I'd been on the **** and saw a silver supra like yours drive up Lothain Road (was a sat night). At one point it was being chased by a MK2 golf GTI trying to bait it into a race which I found very funny
I stay in the buckstone area and for another day will be driving a black Saxo VTS and then I'll be in my parents silver 1.0 Polo (0-60 in 18 secs!!!!!!!!) until I get a scooby

Fooking hell, must have been all go today Sipie - your still at work at ten to 6. Sipie single handedly convinced me to buy a scooby when he chucked her into a wet muddy hairpin and accelerated like the corner wasn't even there
Hoping to get an MY99 and do some light modification. Currently trying to prise an nicely modded MY00 out of a certain scoobynetters hands
but he's not sure if he wants to sell.
Insurance is reasonable for me at 23 on a standard car £950. Add full exhaust and filter and it's £1300 (not too rough) but add, alloys (17" gold) and it's £1600. That last £300 really got me pissed off - Hence sipies comment.
Not to worry, Sipie and I have already agreed to rob banks together to fund our cars so I'll be fine

Please don't tempt me on that one as it is a distinct possibility but 6's still a tad on the pricey side....not 100% convinced with the fugly look (IMHO only), thought 7,500 mile service intervals annoying but 4,500 is just a p*ss take and again don't love the sound of these things but only driven a VII (and not in anger) so not really qualified to comment. But would be good to hear an owners opinion in general, but appreciate you got the 5 but maybe you could post some general 'life with an evo comments', would be v interested.
Cheers

SiPie,
No problem, here's a little rundown:
Have owned my EVO 5 GSR for two years and have used it to commute to/from work (Edinburgh) every day. Have never had any reliability issues with it at all. Did however get a slight vibration from the front disks, this is a common problem with the brembo's, got the disks skimmed and they have been fine since.
The 4,500 service interval came about due to there being a product recall that affected certain numbers of Evo 4 & 5 GSR models due to a faulty AYC ECU (Active Yaw Control Electronic Control Unit). It was found that due to incorrect AYC ECU programming that the clutches that control the torque transfer could remain engaged on starting the engine. This could lead to premature wear and eventual failure of the AYC. These ECU's were replaced free of charge, however it took nearly a year to get them through to the UK! The 4,500 service interval, mainly AYC fluid change, was brought about by CCC (Colt Car Company) to prevent possible damage. The interval for changing the AYC fluids maybe extended to 18,000 miles at a later date. This is to be released by CCC.
The engine/exhaust sound cant compete with the flat four boxer engine sound in the Scooby but fitting an aftermarket exhaust improves this greatly. The beauty of them is their tuning potential. Ralliart have tested many and found that their power was close to 300 BHP in standard trim. With full exhaust/filter mods you can obtain very good gains +20 BHP is easy.
My EVO 5 was run at Star Performance last year with loads of Scoobies, you can see the results at: (under Spanpody)

Cheers for all that spanpody... am gicing it some serious thought at the moment and also kicking a few other ideas around. Scoob kicking on with 76k on the clock so need to do something quite soon...

It wouldn't have been me at the station, mine is dandellion yellow!! I have only seen one other yellow E5 on the road since I got mine (2 years) and that was near Livingston.
The Scottish section of the MLR (Mitsubishi Lancer Register) are having a wee meet soon, date still to be set. Pop along and have a chat with us, should have a varied selection of motors E4-E7. I think Technopete (big red) from this forum is coming along also.

Understeer is v easily tamed in scoobs by sticking the fronts to 36psi and rears to 32... ok still not perfect but at least you are out on the road enjoing correcting and powersliding through it rather than being stuck in the garage getting your 4.5k service or filling up with the push juice....!
Tongue firmly in cheek at last comment spanpody....

Only having a crack guys, no offence intended
Not going to get dragged into the "my car is better than yours" debate.
My scooby used to understeer a bit but nothing that couldn't be
corrected, it had pretty neutral handling which I liked. Understeer is the safe way to go anyway, oversteer can catch you out and you end up spinning the car!
I use the EVO as a second car now so probably only put on less than 3k miles a year
Keeps those servicing and fuel bills down! My to/from work car gives massive understeer which can be fun!!

If I could afford the 2nd car scenario and limt myself to a 3k a year mileage then then the EVO would be perfect but....@ 20k a year and day to day transport, even running the scoob is tight, but you only live once so it could be up for sale very very soon....watch this space!
PS No point in the my cars better than yours saga as both are in the top percent of day to day transport available IMHO.
