Station puts F1 racer in pole position
THE Formula One car that propelled Michael Schumacher to victory in the 2000 World Championship is to be put on show at an Edinburgh petrol station.
The Shell Braidburn station, on Morningside Road, is hosting a Ferrari fun day this month.
To celebrate the launch of a new brand of unleaded petrol, Shell Optimax, visitors will be able to see one of the most famous cars in the world up close for the first time.
Also on view at the station will be the same style of bike driven by Hollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator movies, a classic Excaliber 1934 MK2.
A Shell team will be on hand to talk about the car and the role that the Ferrari F1 team have played in helping to create the new petrol.
A spokeswoman for Shell said: "The fuel has been specially engineered to make any car engine more responsive, which means Optimax drivers can get an extra burst of power when they need it in responding safely to today’s demanding driving conditions."
The open day is on Thursday, June 13

I filled up in Stirling this lunchtime - the bloke said to me, "well done, that optimax was only put in 10 minutes ago, you're the first to get some!"

I'm just up the road from Braidburn garage so I'll report prices as soon as I know. Nice to see another Edinburgh (nearly) lad on here, welcome aboard scooby.

so, now optimax is in Edinburgh, does anyone notice the difference? Mine's an 01 wagon and wondering if it's worth starting to use Op. instead of standard unl. (bit tight you know)

m1cassels....
Can't believe you are actually using normal unleaded in your car!!!
Go for Optimax but if not then at least get some SUL in it. (Optimax same price around Edinburgh anyway @ 77.9pish per litre)
You'll certainly notice a difference switching from unleaded.

Just had the car serviced at Nobles - they said the feedback they had from a number of customers was that the 01 WRX does not like Optimax at all, and best to avoid it. Try SUL if I want, but most of their customers use regular unleaded.
Help please anyone?!! Any scientific info available about it, rather than opinion?
