Default New But Silly

Just bought my first Impreza. 2000 2.0 Turbo AWD with 69,000 miles on clock. Prodrive Performance Pack and rest standard.

Was proud and dead chuffed.......until I had it in for new clutch today as was sold with slipping clutch. Decided full service would be good since it was on ramps and been told the car is not pretty at all.

Big list of things noticed during service that I cant remember off top of my head but will find out more tomorrow when I pick the car up

Rear suspension was mentioned but cant remember rest

Looks like my dream car has turned into a nightmare but thats what I get for buying a car with no history etc.

£1300 for car £600 for clutch and service so basically £1900 down the drain

Welcome

Post up what's all wrong with the car but you can look at it another way like I would and it would just be a list of mod's needing done first.

Start with the most safety critical and work your way though them. If its rust just hope it isn't too bad and I would start there then see if its worth it or not if other things aren't safety critical.

I bought and FTO a year and a half ago needing it needed a little work a month after buying it the rear suspension collapsed and the guy sold it with a dodgy MOT as well.

But after getting list done hopefully a car well worth the money also gives me an opportunity to upgrade certain parts too. I know it was cheap and would have a couple issues main one being the clutch which is why I thought it was cheap but I was lying to myself about that haha

have to ask yourself why a £25k car is £1300, come repair and service time its got bills the same as any £25k car.

What clutch did you have? mine was £650 and that was an uprated one

Probably a fifteen year old car at minimum and had it's ar$e thrashed off by almost every previous owner in that time, decent ones are far and few nowadays I'm afraid.

Anyway, most of the above are consumables, your going to get that on any older car.

That list isn't as bad as I though it would have been. Like its been said above most is consumable and buying one that cheap would mean it would need a it of work.

Your looking at it like I would which is a list of mods needing done first and if you bought the car to mod then it might mean it starts a little early with them.

Depending on how bad the rust is then the welding will more than likely be your most expensive repair on the above and if you or your mates are handy with a set of spanners then the rest can be replaced on a drive with a jack.

The biggest issue is the suspension turrets needing rust repair. not the easiest place to weld. The rest are all just wear and tear stuff. I can't remember if the uk cars came with 4 pots if not upgrade to them. cheap and easy mod.

Johnny.

yeah im not sure what suspension turrets are but i know welding costs a fair bit hopefully find someone that can do a homer. What do you mean by 4 pots?
also if my suspension is miss-alligned or bent what does this mean am i better replacing the shock absorber the springs or both? obviously need to do the same on the other side too
