What is the most effective way to clean an induction kit. I have a green induction kit on my car with the bonnet vent covers removed and it is quite dirty. What is the best way to clean this and what do I re-oil it with.

Cheers

Is the Green kit a HKS jobbie?

I have a Pipercoross kit - they reccommend washing in warm soapy water, let it dry completely (has to be bone dry) and lightly oil evenly all over, do not soak it, using the oil they provided with the kit. Places like Performance City sell the oil as i am sure many others do.
Not sure if you filter is oiled or not.

Give Scoobysport, Scoobymania or Nito a call

Scruff,
I too have HKS 'green mushroom' kit on my car. NITO mentioned that you could was them, but in his opinion it was not worth the hassle as you'd have to re-oil it, which sounds like a major pain. Basically he said that it'd be better to just get a new filter. Which is what I'm doing, from TDi 918.75 plus 2.50 p/p plus vat)

The make of the filter is "GREEN" not HKS unfortunately. It is a cone type filter and it does not have a foam core like the HKS but a paper one I think. Is it safe to wash this type?

Thanks again.

lol @ chiark, guess my finger slipped on keyboard

scruff,
oops! sorry mate, I should learn to read. Green, hmm, I've heard of these. Pretty sure that when I was in the new look Halfords they had some of these filters in there, might be worth a look. If it's a paper core then washing it might not be such a good idea.

Scruff.
It is basically a cheaper version of the K&N that I dearly love , and therefore probably has the same cleansing methods. They should make their own products, so check your local stockists.Don't think that just because it looks dirty that it actually needs cleaning though, as filtering is actually improved on the K&N as it gets dirty.
They only require cleaning every 50,000 miles or so. I've cleaned mine once, but it was such a palarva I actually buy a new cone element every year now cos they're only £30!

Nice one Stef I only have it on the car for about 7000 miles so I think I will clean it when I get a new Scooby.

Cheers
