Default Today it was a ****e day ...........

On the way home from work today some clown cut me up on a mini roundabout and ran his rear quarter panel across my front wing and bumper, then failed to stop overtaking multiple cars dangerously

To say I'm ****ed off is an understatement. Spent an hour a the police station giving details including the offending vehicle number plate...

Wait and see what tomorrow brings now....

Dented wing, deep scratched bumper , additional silver paint layer.....

But will they be interested? Your word against his that you didn't hit him.........

Don't hold your breath for the modern highwaymen to help you. Most of 'em will be out taking photos so they can send letter demanding money with menaces.

Wife's car got driven into in Tescos carpark years back. Side swiped all the way down the passanger side. Very distinctive car and an observer took details including number plate. I reported it to the police who EVENTUALLY located the car exactly matching teh description given on the owners driveway. Police asked owner who said they hadn't been driing the car as it wasn't taxed or insured.

That was it. Case dropped and we were left to foot the bill for repairs out of our own pockets. Gotta love it!

Hope you get better luck!!!

Better day today

Went back down the station to give a full statement.

They are following up on failure to stop at the science, dangerous driving, failure to report an incident within 24 hrs.

The car is insured by the same company as mine, and they are contacting the driver.

The insurance company also looked on Google earth whilst I was on the phone to check road markings and right of way, they have concluded I was in the right and put the blame with the other driver.

I did not put up the full extent of the incident on the public forum for various reasons, but I believe the other car is already on a watch by the police for similar offences...

Fingers crossed

The reason I asked is some **** sunday afternoon was constantly drifting round a roundabout whilst traffic was on it.
Then he decided to overtake in a 30 with oncoming traffic.
He was in a silver 5 series.

Thought I would post an update today...

Still not resolved.

Took 6 weeks for insurance company to get a response from the other driver and at that point he claimed it was my fault

He does not speak any English and an interpetator now has to go out to take a statment

had the car inspected today to help with the liability decision.....

on and on it goes....

Probably would be if English was his first language (see above), as it is probably way too much hassle for the fuzz and they can't be seen to be hassling ethnic minorities

Still doesn't explain why the police don't push for leaving the scene etc, but plod just ain't up to scratch.

The police are persuing

1.Failing to stop at the scene of an accident
2.Failing to report an accident within 24hr
3.Dangerous driving.

Even with the above the insurance company will not agree to him being liable.

Even basic highway code definitions of round-about-use put him in the wrong.

heres hoping

indeed it is, He is insured with the same company as me, but they can't talk to each other.

I keep getting the quote " we will have to contact the 3rd parties insurer and that may take a couple days...." FFS its the same company...

I have to laugh or I'd cry

soon be 3 months after the event and still no sign of an admittance.

Latest now is he has claimed he was not involved in an accident, although a week ago he said it was my fault

Need a beer or two tonight.....
