Default bad day...got worse!

so, today I decided I would fit my new rear disks and pads followed by some new intake hoses..

removed pass side disk and fitted with no problems....driver side on the other hand...snapped a calliper bolt, was undoing nice and easy then that dreaded feeling!!

calliper off, lots of swearing, drilled out the nut (took fooooorreeever!) re tapped, fitted and bled...one job done!

removed the IC and fitting the new hoses which were TIGHT! putting the IC back on and messing with the hoses to slide back on the turbo and SNAP....i was leaning on the coolant to turbo hose on the header tank and the damn thing snapped!..stupid 2005 plastic tanks...grrrr! another £120 later and I have a new header tank being delivered tomorrow.....I HATE cars! lol

Rant over

Welcome to the world of working on Subaru's, nothing is ever straight forward and quite often it's easier to let a specialist deal with it whilst you sit back with a cuppa

I have been there and done that with most things that can fail now and I still haven't learned my lesson I had to put my engine back in twice in one week a couple of weeks ago due to missing a dislodged spring on the clutch release bearing that gave way as soon as I pressed the clutch pedal to start the engine

Ouch! That's sucks man lol. I'd never let a specialist touch my car though lol. I'd rather do everything myself...apart from paint, I suck at that lol

Know the feeling mate I did discs and pads on my old bug wrx and every caliper bolt snapped bar one then when I got them off found 2 of the pistons in both front ones had seized so a simple disc /pad change turned into a full caliper rebuild took me 2 weekends lmao

I've experienced both those incidents on my car, though not on the same day!

It lives again! Thank the queen and her Royal Mail for guaranteed Saturday deliveries lol.

Yeah, caliper bolts could easily be saved if the mechanics/specialists who did the last change out some copper grease on the threads! I fitted Cosworth front calipers and 355mm rotors last weekend with no dramas...the rears sucked tho!
