Default ARB question

Just been doing some googling on reccommended suspension upgrades for my 2010 WRXS and there seems to be a lot of threads suggesting that a good start is to replace the rear ARB. I think the one fitted to mine is a pathetic 16mm and it is suggested that this be changed out for a 20mm whiteline solid bar or equivalent. I dont want to start messing with upgrading springs and making the ride bone shaking hard as its my daily drive and the roads near here are rubbish. Any advice appreciated.

ARB is an excellent start as it will transform the car

Replace the roll bars and the drop links on the front and the rear and you will notice a you can turn into bends at say 10mph more and still be planted

Theres a lot of talk about using equal front and rear bars to get a neutral feel to the cars handling. I think the hatch wrx has a 20mm front bar so thats why i was going for the same on the rear.

They don't do kits that are the same and a quick google search will show that. The front is always thicker?

I would spend my money on better tyres as that would be cheaper and make a huge difference.

3 posts means you haven't even given the car a chance? Tyres make a huge difference when your not used to a new car!

I changed to roll bars on my BMW after realising the handling was ****

Smaller bar at the rear promotes predictable understeer from the front maybe? Apparently understeer is less dangerous than oversteer?.....as you head for that tree head on!!

Not so much a newbie stevebt....been on here a long time just forgot my password on my previous account and it wont let me back in on that one. Had the car for two years now and just replaced the original pirellis with vredstien vortis which so far seem pretty good. The warranty has just expired so starting to get the urge to start messing with a few bits but the wife is keeping a close eye on me because i spent £000's on my bug before this one.
