Ok how fast are these things because I've just had my backside kicked big time. Just a plain white new shaped Scirroco made me feel like a I was driving an FSO. He also never lifted on Chesterfield Bypasses bad bend at the colledge in the wet. Feel Pig Sick TBH my cars only a standard classic wagon but that's totally surprised me

There quick even in standard form.
my father in law has a 210bhp TSI and it's got Revo so it's 270BHP, standard it's was 0-60 6.9 so it will be better then that now!

Also they handle really well!
If it was a R version then I think there 265bhp standard! That with Revo is 305bhp

The diesel version is 170bhp standard and with Revo is just under 200BhP

So don't feel to bad lol

Wouldn't be so surprised fella, a middle range model with puts out 210 bhp, and they can quite easlierly be remapped further. There's one that blasts around Derby which has had a Revo remap (going by the stickers all over it) and that's bloody quick.

Standard classic wagon - UK car?
So 220bhp roughly?

Less around 25% for transmission loss leaves you approx 165

because you drive a car that is at least 13 years old, it's a UK spec car and as probably lost about 40bhp since it was built.

But it's another thread about ***** waving against other more modern cars .

I'm guessing your cars around ten years old at least, and you are surprised at getting your **** kicked by a new Scirocco?

Maybe ten years ago you had a quick car, nowadays almost any hot hatch or anything else for that matter can kick you're ar$e.

You've obviously not seen his Mrs, you'd want it to be from the back to give yourself a chance of getting a stiffy, personally I wouldn't do her with yours.

As for getting spanked by the Vdub, as above your probably running around the 140 bhp mark in reality and if you have crap tyres and dodgy geo, you got no chance against a new 200+ bhp car and there's plenty of other cars that will hand you your **** too, spend a grand on yours in the right places and it will be a different story though.

Don't race new hot hatches! Especially in a car that's 10+'years old! not only will his engine be better! but his brakes and suspension

Some of these newer cars are bloody quick, an STi had around 280(ish) ten years ago, an STi still has around 280(ish) but so does alot of other things nowadays.

Other makes and models have caught up and even passed Subaru, even front wheel drive cars with trick diffs and things will give an STi a run for it's money.

The age of the Evo and Impreza kicking ***** on the road has been and gone.

And there's me about to pull the trigger on an '03 WRX PPP wagon thinking it'll keep these new whipper snappers at bay! lol

I'm just looking forward to owning something turbo charged with 4WD! The wagon part was me stretching the buying brief to the missus!

Totally agree but when I've got the cash for my next car it'll still have 6 stars on it's badge, just love it to death. I'll also get around to doing a thread on it because it's had some love over the last 3 years.

If you like the one you have just keep it, it's not too big a job to make a classic fairly quick, say upwards of 300 BHP.

Once you move towards the 400 BHP mark things can get expensive, move towards the 500 mark and it gets silly, but the fun factor is immense!

We won't get rid of the wagon Helen want's it she hates her 307 but I want a classic saloon next and when the times right ill pay for a nice type R or Ra for a base. I Do all my own work nothings an issue infact there is one Helen hates me rebuilding heads on the kitchen work surface for some reason but it was cold outside.

Not really, but that's what the Type R is for.

The Blob Wagon PPP is just a quick ish practical daily that does ok for what it cost £4k, it's you Lardy Blob sti fanboys that think you've got the fastest thing on 4 wheels, when in reality you can't beat a WRX PPP to 60mph and would struggle to pass one on anything but the longest of straight roads at about 120mph, then the drag from the carlos fandango spoiler would see the WRX passing you at 150mph.

I get parts from him when I need them fast(5mins up the road) and he always has time to tour my boy around the race cars, every so often he has some very nice classics for sale and have heard good things about the warranty with them 2 but when the time's right I'll travel for the right R/RA.
