WRX Purchase
#1
Folks,
Thinking of buying a 1994 WRX jap import. Anything that I should be looking out for so I don`t buy a bucket of bolts or a ringer? Also anyone know of a way to checking that the cars mileage is correct and that it ain`t been nicked in Japan and shipped here?
Cheers,
Chris B.

Overall condition, you should be able to spot a thrashed car from a mile off....
Get one with some history if you can, one that has been in the UK for a good few years would be a better buy than a fresh import. If it has been in the UK for a while, chances are it is a kosha mota
I doubt you will have problems with the stolen from japan stuff, they only usualy take high value newer cars.I have seen early WRXs sold at jap auctions for £1500......
Buy a clean, low miles, unmollested example...... expect to pay c.£6-7000

Assume all mileage is incorrect and look for condition instead. Things like:
Is the steering wheel shiny or dull? (Shiny = lots of miles)
Is the gear lever **** looking worn? (Very worn = lots of miles)
Are the side bolsters on the seats looking worn? (Worn = eek! mileage)
Get an HPi check and make sure all the numbers match and see some ID from the owner to make sure he is who he says he is and that he lives where he claims.
