What's a Full Subaru Service History worth?
Just bought a 2007 WRX.
It's done 48K miles.
Previously owned a 2000 WRX which I owned for 7 years and kept the Subaru Service History up till 100K miles and then a local mechanic (who has owned a few Scoobys) looked after it (very well).
I've never really owned many cars up the end of the market where full service history is important and it's not been something I have looked for when purchasing.
So, my question is; Should I keep the Full Subaru Service History up or let the local mechanic, whom I trust completely, look after it?
I intend to keep the car for another 7 years (problems permitting) but, you never know in this current financial climate if I might have to sell before then....

Full history is what matters, FSSH is just a bonus... It's your car, and your peace of mind is just as important.
I say take it to the people you trust.

If I looked at a car that had been serviced by an independent and/or non-Subaru mechanic for a couple of years or more and it was still running, with service history I wouldn't worry at all.
Proves they know their stuff.

depends what the next buyer was going to do with the car as in if it was a person who was going to modify it then a full dealer service history wouldn't be that important I wouldn't have thought but if they were going to keep the car as it left the factory then it would.....

I bought mine with full subaru service history, and now do all the work on it myself.
End if the day its 13 years old and not worth a great deal, i guess it did help with my purchase of the car but saying that i would have probably bought it anyway.
To some its the be all and end all, to others, its not that important lol.
On the other hand we bought a cmax, 3 years old with 8k on the clock.
I downloaded whats done at each service and do all the work on that myself too. Car is now on 31k and 6 years old
If it was a high end car, or high performance then i would not buy without full dealer history i guess.

Thanks for all the opinions :-)
Perfectly happy to get it serviced by the local Subaru mechanic I trust, but, it's nice to know that if I did have to sell, not everyone would be put off by not keeping up the full Subaru Service history.

The mechanic who works in Subaru dealership could be a 19 year old lad with very little experience on motors, whereas your trusted local mechanic probably has a lot of experience on a variety of vehicles-I know who I would prefer to have working on my car!,as said above though, dealer history means different things to different people,as long as it has been serviced correctly,it doesn't really matter who did it-IMO of course

This and my experiences of main dealer servicing (Subaru and BMW) mean I'd have far more faith in the car if it had been serviced by an independent than a main dealers.
