As above the only place to find what you're looking for will be gumtree, infact you'll probably be able to swap some tools or a lawnmower for one on there.
IMO a rushed purchase of a £1700 classic will be a money pit and if (as u say) you ain't got 3k to spend I wouldn't bother as it'll probably cost another 1500 to sort out.
Just my 2p good luck with the search.

I wouldn't apologise too much, imo there was no need for half the comments others made but it just the usual lets have a go rather than help. I don't see its of anyone's business as to how much you have to spend or why you need a car quickly but there you go. If anything you've come to exactly the right place, yes Gumtree/Ebay are valid options but you might find someone on here with something suitable.
I'd stick a post up in the wanted section with what your looking for, but as the helpful folk have said rush buying an Impreza can be a bad move, but being as you've had a Scooby already you'll no doubt be aware of this and what to look for. Is there any reason why you particularly want an import?

gumtree to the rescue!!!
Be very careful though, as a lo of them are sold by clueless owner's who still masterbate over max power mag's.

This one seem's nice enough (Warning a proper for sale advert!!)

To add to the above, just found a couple on on pistonheads, neither are imports I'm afraid, but still not a bad deal with some decent upgrades and a pretty good advert, although him referring to a 1999 car as 12 years old a couple of times amused me :-)
