Default Brighton Speed trials - petition

It appears that the bigoted bunch of Green party idiots who run Brighton and Hove city council want to stop the World famous Brighton Speed Trials.
As a competitor back in the days before time (late 60's actually and I won the up to one litre saloon class two years running in a Mini Cooper - my claim to automotive fame) naturally, I've signed the petition.

Done, went to this as a kid several times

Love the way councils tell us what is good for us all the time, local authorities are full of pdeantic lazy jobsworths who just love making people's lives a misery!

I think it has been stopped because A competitor died there last year.

On the bikes (bit off topic I know), wasn't there a nasty pile up resulting in a few deaths at Weston Super Mare several years back?

No disrespect intended but I don't know of any annual event that ever stopped running because of the death of a participant (apart from the actual occurrance of course).

I don't know the circumstances, the op's in a far better position.
However, given that it's the save the Earth mob I suspect it could be seen as an attempt to prevent global warming due to emissions and of course noise pollution which could affect the mating habits of the gulls.

I don't want to trivialise (or inflame) things but would the council consider banning the annual Gay Pride march if someone got mugged (or far worse) ?

When I competed there back in the late 60's it was run over a kilometre (nobody knew what that was back then!) An American on a V8 powered bike lost it just before the finish and finished up on the beach - dead! There was a delay but the event carried on. The next year it was reduced to quarter mile. Some re-surfacing took place as I remember my crash helmet hitting the roll-over bar going over the bumps which no doubt contributed to the guy's crash.

just like the grand national, every year innocent horses get put to sleep. at least at the speed trials people are willing competitors and know the risks

wonder when the straight pride march will take place? or is that homophobic?
or the MOWO's? or is that racist?
