Help needed with my search
Hi everybody, I'm new to the forums and to the world of owning a Scooby. I've been driving a civic type r for the past 6 years and have now got a 05 blob eye wrx. After looking through the forum I've made my mind up on my 1st few steps into making this car my own. I've already managed to get my hands on a sti back box for £40 to replace the cannon looking exhaust that is on there at the moment. The next step is the decat sti up pipe. The problems I have are
1. I can't find a up pipe that's within my £100 budget, and.....
2. I need a new gasket before I can fit the back box on to the car.
I was hoping someone may be able to help me out by pointing me in the direction of the parts I'm after.
I hope someone can help me out.
Happy new year to all, Ben

Awesome stuff, I just had a look and have messaged the seller. Thanks for the quick reply. Is there anything I should look out for with the up pipe. Also, is there anything else I would need our should this just play the game as it is. Also, would I need a remap after install

Bit of a noob question now but can the remap be done on the standard ecu? I also presume that I would have to find a specialist. I did see that someone on here can do it. I can't remember which member it was but he was highly recommended. Is there any specialists in the Cambridge area that people know of? Sorry for being such a noob but I've gotta start somewhere.

It's got a forge dump valve on it which I'm thinking of replacing with a re-circ at some point in the future. Apart from that, I won't be doing anything else to the engine.

If your car should easily achieve about 240-250 bhp with just the decat and remap. But do it after you fit all the bits and don't kick the **** out of it on the way to the mapping.
Power is not everything but if the car handles well, stops and corners it could make up for the increase in power.

The OE DV is a good option. If you up the power with a remap then fuelling may become an issue, so an uprated pump may be on the shopping list. Depending on the age of the car then upping the power may add load to an old clutch, brakes, tyres, shocks etc.

What sort of price am I gonna be looking at to get the remap done? Thanks for the advice so far. It's all much appreciated.

£350 ish, on a standard car it will be the most cost effective increase in power you can get. Expect an extra 30-40 bhp but more importantly far better drivability and usually better economy.

Wow,inever realised it could add up to that bhp. It's a 2005 blob eye that I have. only other mod that has just popped to mind is a upgraded inter cooler hose as I've heard that the standard pipe can expand under pressure.

Honey fella, do some searches on here. Spend the weekend doing some reading and then you will be armed with some good advice.
Your turbo is a TD04 which runs out of puff at around 270bhp. After that, budget on £1.5k and £2k to upgrade the turbo and add supporting mods.
If a £100 up pipe is pushing your budget, my advice would be to run it as it is for now and get a scooby spares money pot going. I would try and have around £500 in it, just in case something goes wrong.
These are great cars and they don't have to be modified to be satisfying to drive.
