Are WR1s now rare?
I've owned a couple of Impreza's a few years back and moved onto a Focus ST. I sold this last May and have been putting a few quid away since. I really have the urge for another Impreza and initially fancied a Hawk STI as I've owned both bugeye and blob previously.
Trouble is I'm put off by the 2.5 engine reliability and the cost of road tax. I have now been thinking of a WR1. Always loved them when I had my blob but couldn't afford one.
Question is, how much are they these days and are there many left? Looking on Auto Trader, there was one for sale at over 10k! Seems a bit steep to me.

Although a quick search on here shows that particular car was for sale for £6995 earlier in the year by a scoobynet member.

Buy a widetrack blob, better car all round imho.
Your paying for some funny coloured paint, a dccd box which came standard on the model after and some black seats really. That's what makes me think 10k for a "limited edition" is a bit ott honestly.
Your money and your choice but I think you would get ALOT more car for your money with a widetrack blob for 10k than you would a wr1.

depends why you want one. I got mine because I liked the "1 of 500" aspect and the colour. But it is all about personal preference.... Here is mine - absolutely love her.

If you like Hawkeye, have a look at type 20
That is 55 reg, so cheaper tax and uses a 2.0 cdb

I think this is sold, but this is what it is

They have their own website:
http://www.wr1oc.co.uk/
I was going to get one too, until I saw my Blob Type 20 advertised. Now they're really rare.

I'd say it's possibly doubled in the past year or so.
(PS I bought it )
Joking apart, you won't get one of them for the pricey 10K of a WR1.
However, the important point is that there are JDM Hawks out there, and since the op's thinking of a hawk in particular it is an option for them.

Thinking of getting a std sti hawk, and keeping it std, I have my engine from my car to put in it, but just keep it all std,
Building a new engine for race car,
Hope you and family all good,
Can't make it tomorrow, just having a night in, no babysitter,
Have a drink for me, say hi to Rez and Katie for me

It was an absolutely superb example.
Only a few days after I collected it I got in the middle of not 1 but 2 'scattergun' road resurfaces.
However, they will be sorted before one of the highly recommended detailers on here does their stuff, and then it will be shielded.
Other than the chips I'd confirm that it's been looked after - would be an insult to the previous owner not to.
And yes, I do use it - to the maximum I'm able .
Only added 5k to the mileage in 8 months.
PM me if you're ever in Wales (or let me know where you live), and if we're ever close I'm happy for you to have the experience, either way .
Cheers mate

But I will be at Oulton park and castle Combe this coming year,
It does look a minter, yours
Can't see it coming down in price, but you will have to look after it,

I think all other sti's will become rare over the next few years as they seemingly getting breaked almost daily for parts. Most Wr1's seemed to be loved a bit more, thankfully.

Thanks for the info guys. Are the 2 litre hawks imports then? I was always under the impression all hawks were 2.5 litre.
P.S Dogs, it'd be good to see you again pal.
