When the yellow bulb on the switch lights up that is when it is armed. Not sure about lighting the instrument panel up? If you mean that the words "waterspray" are illuminated? That only happened when the waterspray tank was empty IIRC on my then STi VI type R.

All I can think is that they share a common earth point which has come loose, and now the dials are lighting up as the power from the switch earths via the dials now? Try checking all the fuses to see if any have blown. Maybe some wires got frayed when the dials came out to do the mph conversion etc.
Sorry can't think of anything else.

Yeah.. Thanks will check it out tomorrow now..if I cant find anything I just get the dealer to check it.
Also whats the best way to check its working properly, can u tell when it operates automatically? the manual operate button sounds like its working fine but can u hear it work when you are on the move? when should it operate?

Thanks again..

I never heard it working apart from when using it manually, when in automatic mode it should IIRC operate only on full boost or I think maybe when the intake temp goes over a predetermined amount. I use to get 16 miles to a full tank of water when playing.
