Hello all. Just bought my first Scooby. I have a 2002 Subaru Impreza BugeyeTurbo Wagon. Completely standard at the moment but im hoping to change that. Looking to get an induction kit and a nice exhaust for starters :-)

If I was you I'd leave the standard airbox intact, does a pretty good job as it is, just get a decent panel filter.

 

You can hear the turbo chatter more with an induction kit though :-)

 

 

Let me guess, you're also fitting a huge rear spoiler, some bonnet pins, fake roof rent, graphics and a chav valve?

Induction kit isn't a good idea unless you're exceeding 400bhp. Scoobies are very temperamental when it comes to the maf sensor. Although newage cars are more robust than the later classics.
I can understand why you want an induction kit, it will give you an induction roar and you'll be able to hear the standard dump valve. Coupled with an exhaust it will give the car a more angry and purposeful engine/exhaust note.
The induction kit may actually lose power ( the standard Subaru air box is very well designed). If you do go for an induction kit swap the maf sensor as a precaution.

 

+1. The standard airbox is good for 400bhp as per a CS 400.

Quite rare for a ten year old scooby to have its standard exhaust on

hi mate , welcome to the site. I have an induction kit fitted with no ill effects , though its been mapped for it so recommend you do the same. Thats if you decide to go ahead after someone gives you pros & cons rather than just slagging or telling you not to do it without explanation. Alternatively you can use the search function and go to the "sort by" section and select "relevancy" . Then you can have a read to yourself pain free before the vultures circle and cast you out.

3 port boost solenoid
K&n pannel filter
Miltek cat back with resonated box..
Mapped with launch controle.
Good start point then go from there :-)

You're right though it's good up to about 420-odd with the right setup. But it is a superior system and relatively low cost as part of a big build.

As for DV you're spot on, many big builds retain the standard item but after doing some research about it for the thread I made in the summer I don't run a standard recirc now. But there is nothing wrong with it and if you do go for an aftermarket part make sure it's high quality. Forge and GFB recirc items are what people seem to rate highly.

 

The recirculating valve is the clincher. No f**king psssting people off .
