Default Coolant Leaking/Overflowing

morning

this weekend i noticed that after i took my v5 turbo 2000 for a drive i came back and i saw a small leak..it was coolant..its come from the expansion tank (behind the battery) bit has overflowed and gone onto the floor.

i checked the coolant level and it near the top of the cap, heater blows hot air, oil cap is clean, and radiator hose doesnt look to be leaking.

also temperature inside is normal on the gauge..car boosts fine.

just not to sure what this could be..can anyone help shed some light on it for me? maybe thermostat related problem?

thanks

I know this sounds silly but was it over filled? As this can cause the water to over flow, also was the car overheating at any point?

Water coming from there is usually the first signs of head gasket failure I hope this isn't the case for you but it has been in every case that I have seen.

Could also be an air pocket if the coolant has recently been changed?

car has not overheated at all. could potentially be air in the system as i did open the cap to check a couple of times the coolant level so maybe some air in the system?

what checks can i do if any?

Ask a decent garage to do a sniff test.

It should expand out of that little bottle with low and high on into a tank behind the liner of the near side wing.

Tha small plastic expansion bottle near the battery with height markings on it should expand into a bottle hidden behind the nearside front wing liner so if the pipe is blocked or kinked then it coul force coolant out of the bottle near the battery.
