Default Hate to ask... Friendly MOTs?

Hello all,

I've been having a nightmare trying to get my car through its MOT, its been off the road since July.
Everything is perfect apart from the emissions. I've just been let down at the last minute and I'm kinda stuffed.
I've spent over an hour going through the search results on here, dating back to 2011, but still no certain answers

Can anyone suggest (Via PM) an extra special, friendly MOT garage that may be able to help.

I am based in Hertfordshire, so home counties area is good. Need to get it done by Wednesday.

thanks

Have you removed the cat? Mot testers can easily lose their licence for being 'friendly'.

Whats your emissions failure data..someone maybe able to help. ..I had my scoob off the road for almost 3 years..and the emmissions were through the roof! Turned out the main culprits were the lambda sensor and coolant temp sensor

Only had one cat for a very long time and passes ok so something is obviously very wrong so what length journeys do you do and what petrol do you use?.

Penetrating spray and just the 22mm ring spanner Got it sorted. Came off in one.
I've been messing around with stupid o2 sockets, they're a bit pointless, and rather expensive.
Also, the direct OEM denso sensor isn't a direct fit. had to rewire the bloody thing.

Although, riddle me this; In my quest to remove the O2 sensor, my heat wrap got wd40/penetrating oil on it. As a result, when the car is up to temperature, it smokes. Quite a bit. Not massively, but you know its there.
Am I likely to end up in a fireball of death as a result? Or will cooking it off be ok?

Thanks mate. I'm holding off on getting a new cat. It's only just failing, so not convinced its gone.

You need some of that engine cleaner stuff mate, know a few lads that put it through there cars when it's been really high on emmisons and it's sorted them out.

Use the full bottle with only like a quarter of a tank though..

Strong smelling stuff but cleans

Make sure it is REALLY piping hot when they test it, take it for a good half hour boosted thrash before hand. Will help with the emissions too.

I get the emissions done after they have done the brake test on the road,
1 cat and never had a issue.

Well after replacing the parts I earlier mentioned (along with spark plugs) I took my scoob for a good boosted run ..I got my hydrocarbon emmissions down from 273 to 65! Not bad for a days work ;-)

My mot garage is 30 mins away, I usually go via the motorway, so its definitely up to temperature when I get there.

I know. It's why I drove in and put it straight on the machine. It then sat there at 3K RPM for a few mins whilst various tests were done. If it wasn't up to temperature, I'd be amazed.

Well, I finally have it sorted. I think I found the friendliest of garages and got the MOT done last night.
All gone through with an advisory of rear pads getting low. Which is fine, I can handle that.
Emissions are perfect.... not sure why

Thanks everyone for the advice and help. It's much appreciated.
