Think there is bugger all difference apart from the colour.
I ran a 6K ecu on a wrx TMIC and it was fine.

the version 1 and 2 sti intercooler has a larger end rear tank and a silicone and alloy inlet pipe instead of the corrugated plastic one.

It doesn't fit on a version 2 due to shape of the 1 & 2 inlet manifold.

You can fit a modified version 4 but you have to trim down the throttle body or source an ARC one.I had an ARC and I found it to be a very good bit of kit.

ARC intercoolers are a really good upgrade for V1/2 GC8's

Don't waste your time and money on an STi one as there is very little difference if any tbh. I've had both and I couldn't see any difference and the y pipe has nothing to add in terms of cooling

This is mine. The important differences are the thickness of the bars and quality of the fins. In addition the tank capacity is larger. It's never going to be a FMIC, but at c.300+ it's fine for a modified mapped road car I use mine on track with the ARC but you do need to limit how many laps you run before coming in. With a FMIC this isn't such a concern
