Default Bottom end costs?

Could anyone tell me roughly what I would expect to pay for bottom end failure?

I have a feeling my blob has gone

I live in Colchester now but I'm from Leeds

01422 846868 tell him Stuart gave his number ;-)

get all the parts your self and let him put it together
advance automotive in Bristol is prob the cheapest around

but your still looking around the 2k mark

hope this helps

Gutted for you matey hope it gets sorted as quickly and cost effectively as possible.

Just a thought, if you're chucking some money at the car and having the engine taken to bits it might be a nice excuse to chuck some forged bearings in... and pistons, injectors, fuel and oil pump, turbo...

Phone around respected tuners and see what's available. I'm not saying some take short cuts or some undersell themselves but there can be a couple hundred in it, and some can source used parts etc. Blackburn's not too far from the Leeds area, try giving Brian at CAMS a shout, he knows his onions and always seems to be building a beast of an engine.

It's always a good idea keeping an empty credit card (or a couple of grand in ISA) to hand for any car out of warranty, even the most reliable cars can go **** and drop a big bill on you.

PS if you're running a stock 2.5 make sure it's got a five grand limit and you've got Engine Tuner's number in your phone.

Edit - sorry just seen that your car is in Darly. You'll probably need to transport it anyway but it's a longer distance than I thought.

I hope it's not bottom end for you

I'd be nervous about saving cash by swapping the engine, as that could be weeks away from failure too...

Let Darren sort it for you, he's local & knows what he's doing, he will advise on the most cost effective option. Who ever does it, let them supply the parts or if there are any warranty issues blame will be bounced around between the builder & parts supplier. I don't think anyone will beat Darrens price to sort it properly either.

Take it to a specialist and throw them £400-500 to have them fit it. You're looking at £1500 to sort a knackered impreza engine if you don't want to do it yourself. Proper bullet proof rebuilds cost £3000+.

Impreza - cheap to buy - not cheap to run!

(but great to drive! )
