Default Knock sensor error code 22

I guys I've just brought a Subaru impreza turbo 2000 with 157k on the clock car drives fine and starts first turn of the key. Pulls really hard in all gears seems to be slurrry(spelling) when off boost but pulls like a missile on boost the heat shield is loose I it sound like a very high pitch tinny tattle like metal on metal.. Just recently it's started to show the check engine light thankfully I have a code reader built in and it showing code 22 apparently this is knock sensor the warning is never on for more than 3mins or so. The engine idles a bit lumpy when it's on but a blip of the throttle she levels out then purrs like a kitten.

Any ideas guys/girls.??

Possibly wiring to the sensor or sensor itself. I had a similar issue a couple years back.

Get a second hand one mate from a breakers. Easy enough to fit just have to remove intercooler. Personally I wouldn't risk not changing it mate

What year is your car? That one you listed is for my99/00 cars. Earlier ones have different electrical connector

Very common problem, the knock sensors crack and break up causing them to fail. Very easy fix, just one bolt and pretty easy to get to.

yeah handy enough changed but CRITICAL that you DO NOT over torque the securing bolt! i also placed a small washer between bolt head and top of knock sensor

cause you'll crack the casing on the knock sensor and in turn end up with another busted knock sensor

its something like 19lbft
