Subaru parts delay problems
My 2002 WRX was rear ended a few months back. The car has been in the body repair shop since the end of August, all ready to repair, except the rear boot pan replacement panel has been on back order with Subaru for 4 weeks. The part was supposed to be leaving Japan this week but no news yet.
Anyone else had problems getting Subaru parts recently? Just wondered if Subaru were having problems?
cheers, Richard

Whoever ordered the goods (presumably the body shop ?) should have a tracking number. At least you'll have some idea of what's happening.
It's better to keep on top of progress (ie keep prodding gently). There's been a few threads regarding long delays in repairing cars.
Ask the repairers for an update. It should get them chasing as well (if they're charging storage there's not much incentive for them to keep on top of things).

The parts will have left JPN this week but they more than likely will not be coming directly to the UK unless things have changed. The container will go via a number of ports before the UK, dropping parts off in other countries on its way.

I ordered something from Japan.
48 Hrs (and £12-summat Air Freight ) cost me £30-odd altogether.
Then 'ParcelFource' charged £13.50 to take over 2 weeks to deliver it.
An absolute con, imo !

Thanks for the replies everyone. I heard yesterday that the part was "on the van" from the local main dealer so should now be at the bodyshop, fingers crossed.
Fortunately the bodyshop loan car isn't costing me anything and the bodyshop is storing my car in their workshop away from the weather.
I think the part came air freight as it supposedly left Japan last week and is now in UK
cheers, r

Glad there's light at the end of the tunnel.
As soon as it hits this country bureaucracy takes over, as above.
Can't leave Customs until duty's paid, ParcelForce staff filling in share application forms (now monitoring the share price on the grey market).
Anyhow, be like having a new toy all over again soon.
