Default which turbo should i buy

i all not been around for a while and basically want to finish what i started with regards to tuning my car the aim is to get it to around 450bhp but not sure what turbo would be the right choice im running a fmic i don't plan on using it as track car its just nice to know Ive got it if i want it now would a td05 20g satisfie what i need or is it really worth the extra for the md321 or sc42 or is there another turbo that's Ive not heard what would be better its been 5 years and ive totally lost track of the tuning parts and the best routs to go

thanks in advanced

chris

Hi Chris

Both MDX321T(MDX-555 450) and SC42 will make 450bhp without the problems with right supporting mods, both should be OK on 2.0L forged engine and should spool well on yours too

20G will not make 450bhp,although billet 20G can make 450bhp(or close to this figure)

Td05 20g I would say is 400bhp turbo if your looking 450 bhp I would go with the sc46 billet turbo which is supposed to be good for around 460 bhp figure.SJ.

Sacrifice spool for power!

Blindly saying "i want 450bhp" could result in you having a car that is real world slower than a usable 300bhp!

SO, TD range of turbos are laggy! If you go for a TD06 you wont have boost cutting in till 4k+ so youd be better off with a nice spooly VF34 or even 30.

SC range of turbos are brilliant! Add a 0 onto the model number and thats the power you should get if the supporting mods are there for it. mappers love them because they reliably do what theyre told every time.

MD321 range ..... much the same as the SC range .... similar power across the range, similar price, similar reliable performance.

When you say your running a fully forged engine, i presume theres a 6 speed box attatched???? 450bhp (more over the torque associated with it) will pull a 5speed to pieces in next to no time ..... assuming your wanting to use the 450bhp :-)

Also, are you aware if what 450bhp does to a road car? its a fair bit! There are alot of standard subaru bits that just arent up to the job of reigning in a shed load more power! Suspension and brakes ... if theyre standard, IMO fling your cash that way first.
