im sure someone will be on here to comment on their own experience but i'm led to believe a 20g would be laggy on a 2. ltr, most who go for a 20G tend to fit a FMIC with it which i've just seen you are doing.
i think you'll have an excellent gain with what you've got planned.
Each to there own. I went from a vf35 to an 18g couple of weeks ago on my 04 blob sti, keeping TMIC, panel filter, 2.5" turbo cat back, 550, walbro and map.

I also went from a vf35 to 18g. very little difference in lag and spool up. The 18g is far better top end. Mine makes 375 on v power and 401bhp with methonal.
More importantly the torque hangs on neary all the way across the rev range

couldnt tell you which is a shame because i'd like know, map was done on rolling road but i plan to find out.
My moto is to max/utilise the standard components which are all capable of producing good results without changing upto 380-400. My only other next change to keep it a good daily fast road car would be a FMIC if I choose too.
I chose the billet 18g over the 20g due to being a smaller turbo with slightly better spool over the 20g. However i couldve easily have gone 20g but wasnt planning on a FMIC just yet

Vf28 to a AF20G here on my old classic. Power went from 340 to 380, I also added gt spec headers and up pipe at the same time so spool was very similar. Made a bar of boost well before 3 grand and pulled harder for longer.
I then added meth which upped the power slightly and increased the torque dramatically which gave me alot more low down grunt.
Turbo lag is only an issue if you're in the wrong gear, keep the revs up when pushing on and you're all good.
