Default Baffled Sump

Are these considered a "must have" for cars which go on track occasionally?

Would something like http://www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.u...productID=3147 be suitable and as easy to fit as I imagine?

I normally take my car to a specialist for a winter fluid change in late November, so I guess it would be an ideal time to get one fitted. If it's just a case of dropping the oil, removing the sump plate and then refitting with the above - surely it's an easy enough job?

Seems like a cheap preventative measure considering the worst case scenario of an oil surge on track.

If you are going on track then you need one. They do help with oil surge but don't totally guarantee you won't have a failure as it's hard to keep the oil in the sump under hard acceleration breaking & cornering.

If you are just occasionally going on track then Baffled plate such as from Cosworth/RCM and other is good option

But Baffled sump is way to go,speak with Alyn@AS Performance about the their Group N Baffled sump or Mark@Lateral Performance

Thanks guys, I'll do some research and will consider either a plate or a full sump in time for my winter fluid change at the end of November.

Got one more track day booked this year at Cadwell, so hopefully I don't blow up at that

the baffle plates are a sticking plaster at best IMO due to their design being a "one size fits all"

a lot depends on your budget but we do a few options starting from reasonable money

Agreed Dry sump is expensive bit,but if you are looking to protect engine which cost in excess x ££££ and you are looking seriously at track days, then I would add Dry sump

Accusump not sure, this is not very popular over on Subaru,in most cases Baffled sump and baffled plate, baffled catch tank with return to sump is enough for occasionally track day users and some this running on Sprint cars etc

Jura the dry sump kit is twice the price of a standard engine ! Bit overkill !

But yes the zen dry sump is a great bit of kit that will cure all and any issue you have with surge
