Default 5x100 to 5x114.3 adaptors. which thickness

I have been searching for some mint original alloys for my 2005 Wrx as mine are in a sorry state. I know I can get then refurbished but it's the hassle of being without my car for a good fee days. I have always liked the 2006 Wrx alloys:

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=151116857027

But as they are 5x114.3, I had always assumed that it wasn't an option. Now I discovered that adaptors do exist but come in various thicknesses.

Does anyone know if :
A) I can use wheel pcd adaptors in this appliclations

And

B) which thickness do I go for?

Hi there

2006 WRX alloys are 5X100 not 5X114.3"

Those wheels which you posted are from STI,which are 5X114.3",but if you will go with the PCD converters then you can fit them without the problem

Just I would have look hubcentric PCD converters and thickness should 10mm will be OK enough

Sorry, I meant the 2005/06 Sti wheels.
But bugger me, those adaptors are rather expensive. Near on £250 a set.

Does anyone know if you can buy 5x100 05/06 sti or sti style wheels?
If so, would appreciate a nudge in the right direction!

Yes and it's not really a route I would be happy to go down. A very good engineering contact once said to me that spacers and hub convertors would be outlawed if he had his way as they introduce all sorts of issues with tolerances, concentrcity and suspension loads that can have short or long term effects with vehicles.

If you are happy with your current wheels design wise why not go the refurbishing route. If you use one of The Wheel Specialist franchises you drive your car in (none of this taking the wheels off yourself nonsense) and get it back the next day with the wheels all done.

They do a proper job (stripping the tyres off the wheels unlike some places) and can refurb to whatever colour you choose. The finish is powder coated so will be uber durable too.

I have used the franchise in Manchester several times and always been more than happy with the results .... and as you know I am a picky ba5tard

I agree, I am not keen really due to the reasons you mention. I just don't really like the original wheel design. That's why I am not keen on a refurb.

I don't want max power sytle alloys, just standard ones from a later car.
I believe these are the ones I am looking for. Either silver or gold.

For the price of a good quality set of adapters you could probably pick up a spare set to put on while you get your old ones refurbed.

Don't know what you're looking to pay, but a new set of those from Inovit won't be horrendous and you can sell your existing wheels to claw a bit of cash back. I had some Inovits on my classic and they were very good wheels for the money

PS Dark wheels on silver cars can look superb!

Don't want to spend more than £0.50 but I am open to negotiation!

May be that is the best route. Don't need tyres, so will see if I can get a price for just the wheels. Personally, I think gold wheels on a silver car look good, but I couldn't never bring myself to buy them! Dark chrome or gun-metal would look good though.

Think you'll get a set of those for easily less than £400 delivered.

What about a set of V7 STI alloys in a colour to suit ?

dunx

P.S. Thick spacers mess with wheel bearing loads, steering geometry and braking stability, not a great solution, IMHO.
