Default is this a scam

selling car on ebay and received pm saying

It's good to read from you i'm okay with the condition and price of this item, i'm seriously interested i will be paying you with my PayPal account because it's attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make payment. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your paypal email address,(Paypal ID) I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, and have your money to you so no shipping included the price. And if you dont have a paypal account, you can easily go to www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy. If you also have some more pictures, might want to have a good look. Please do get back to me with your PayPal e-mail and full name on so i can make out payment ASAP. I want your honesty in return to my faithfulness to you during this transaction. Your immediate response is really appreciated.

Kind regards,

a few more pms back and forth and he has said he is from france ?

100% scam
I sold my WRX on PH and had loads of scam emails...
Genuine buyers will call to arrange viewing.
I sold mine to a guy from Sweden! Flew here, started car, didn't even drive it, payed me! Then drove all the way from Birmingham home to Sweden.

I had loads of timewasters, calling with crazy bids, texting offers! Then never turning up, I mean like 20 or 30 people. Damn fools

Tip- Don't barter by text - might be teaching you to suck eggs here but I have loads of experience of car sales, but I never have had so many time wasters as when recently selling my WRX on PH

Translated it means "I want as much of your money as I can lay my hands on as a reward for my ruthlessness. Your stupidity in falling for this would be really appreciated".

It serves as a good warning to us all though.

If you've a 'bucket' email account (I used one of mine when I reg'd for Ebay, it contains no personal details and anything going to it usually gets trashed within days. It helps keep spam and other crap out my online life) get 'him' to email you.

You can then get some info on where they are, the ISP etc.
Eastern Europeans I'd guess.

There's lots of info in emails if you know where to look.

There's honesty, and then there's plain going over the top.

Almost as if the more statements he makes, the more underhanded tactics he needs to cover up.

Ask yourself this: if you were in their position and just wanted the process to be hassle-free, would you attempt to come across so sickeningly sweet and gentlemanly? Oh, and make them think you were a toffee-nosed, posh Home Counties sort of chappy while you're at it?

In case any Home Counties residents are offended, I know you're not all like that. I'm from Kent, and I'm about as common as they come.

Scam. Got loads of them when I sold my focus on autotrader last week. Almost one a day.

Here is one that I had a bit of fun with:

Him:

Hello

Thank you for getting back, Am Stephan from Aberdeen, Am really
interested in buying your car after viewing it on the ad. But wont be
able to come for inspection cos am currently not around, I went for a
missionary programee in Western Europe, I agree to buy at your price
as long as it is in a good condition, How I wish i could come for
inspection and view with my eyes but am currently away for the
programme and will be away for quite a number of weeks.

I will make full payment to you and once your payment clears, I will
arrange for a shipper to contact you, sign the paper work and pick it
up from you. This is the best way I can handle this for us both, Am
keen like I said earlier.
I wont be able to bring cash physically, the best way to pay for me
would be through PayPal which is safer, i will also cover the PayPal
transfer fees. Kindly send me a PayPal payment invoice or create an

account at http://www.paypal.com/ if you don't have one.

Have a nice day and please,I'd like to know certain things too; Are
you the first owner? What is your reason for selling? I'm sorry, just
want to be very sure about the sale before i proceed.

Me:
Hi Steve

No problem, I accept paypal. I am a religious man myself. Which church do you belong to?

Chris

Him:
1st Greek Evangelical Church of Athens
50 Amalias Ave., GR 105 58 ATHENS

Thats where i run my missionary programme, But have got my sick son in the UK staying with my grandma, Are you a Pastor?

Me:
Not a pastor, I'm a protector of bums and all things poo.

Still want the car?

Chris aka 'General Analiator'

Oddly enough, he didn't respond after that last email.
