It's only costing around £9 more per 300 miles than my old 1.6 focus!

I guess the fact that I have a 2 year old son sitting in the back most of the time does encourage me to drive in a safer manner.

And to think I was going to get a BMW 330 Auto! Would have been lucky to get 23mpg!

Mine got 220 miles to 44 litres (v-power)with a mixture of half hooning around a-b roads and half sedate motorway driving! I think my brakes must be binding on!

I'm really amazed at how frugal Imprezas are. I've had plenty of normally aspirated four, five and six cylinder motors and the Imprezas win when you balance performance against economy.

My classic uk2000 turbo does 30-34mpg with average driving, never thrashed tho. Had it 3 years now and it's always been good on fuel, it's no worse than my BMW 318. Ran on tesco 99

I find 30-34 pretty easily achievable in our PPPd 05 WRX, but then so are lower MPGs!

I've just done over 1300 miles since friday and got 33.5 and the last 125 miles of that have been done hooning a bit on some local twisties, I now wish i'd have gone straight to the petrol station to fill up and check what I got over the 1175 miles I did to get out here to Croatia, must have been somewhere around 35mpg fully loaded. pretty much all motorway and 85%+ at 80mph and the rest slower in road works and a bit of traffic.

I'd have been happy with 25mpg, to say i'm pleasantly surprised is an understatement, although it does tally with what i've achieved on shorter motorway trips.

54 plate WRX PPP and I usually average around 25/28mpg mostly pootling in town with the odd weekend blast.

Edit to add, I also pay attention to my boost gauge.

My new 05 sti has 353 bhp yet im still getting 172 miles from 27.99 litres of 99 ron juice. Making 27.9 mpg..well chuffed.

You have a fuel leak!

The classic has a 50 Litre tank, so if you filled up with say 45 litres, that equated to 12.62mpg!

One of our managers has just bought a 2002 V8 Range Rover V8 and that only gets around 10-12mpg. It's ok though as it has a gas conversion meaning she gets around 18mpg!

my last blob was mapped on 95 ron with 320bhp and i could get 36mpg on a run (rotherham to brighton on less than half a tank)

my new blob is mapped on 99 ron with 330bhp and most i've had is 34.5mpg (rotherham to newquay and still had quarter a tank left)

normally average 22-25mpg just knocking about and short runs

Whatever....I don't get why people talk in mph, mpg then say litres....I know that's how it's bought at the pump though.....this country's so fkd up between metric and imperial its not funny. The State's are imperial, Europe's metric.....us, we mix them, how fkd up is that!!

Lol, the states have their US gallons that are not the same as UK gallons, so just as fcuked up as us.

Still not as bad as here, we don't don't what the fk we're doing....just take jap cars for starters (mine for instance) Speedo in mph, miles in kms ffs....if you're going to have measurement, have it in one or the other not bloody mixed

Anyway, back to petrol.
The fuel pump changeover was a really sneaky one. Reduced the price of the selling unit and covered up the fact that petrol was going through the roof.

It still cost more per litre than it did per gallon during the oil crisis of the early 80's.

They're always sneaky, they think folk don't notice, then again, they don't care if we do, they do what they want, always have and will. I remember getting petrol back in early 83, it was 1.30 a gal, then weeks our months later changed to litres and was about 38p which equated to about 1.40-50 a gal.....they're greedy lying robbing c*nts and they know it

I usually get 220 miles to a tank of VPower in my 05my STI. Last couple if tanks only 200 though?!? Traffic on a morning, spirited drive home.

Works out at 19mpg
