Default Car on auto trader

I was browsing on auto trader and saw this, something's not right though, it appears to be a my05 jdm sti fitted with a hawk front but has uk clocks and rear lights. The inter cooler and strut brace are jdm. Seems a mixture of parts to me.

Bit of an odd one that may have been bought over damaged and repaired with UK parts. Not sure why they would change the clocks though.

id guess the clocks have been changed from jdm to uk for an easy fix to get the speedo in miles rather than km and uk lights fitted so as not to put a under bumper foglight in as it has an aftermarket foglight switch fitted also

it has a rear wiper so probably is a jdm, when imported they sometimes have the wrong year plates fitted so may not be a hawk conversion and a legit car.

looking at the clock picture the indicator stalk appears to be on the right which is correct for a jdm car, its on the right on uk version.

id say it was a legit jdm hawk apart from the roof turd and weird skirt thingys.

If it's only had one owner I'd definitely want to talk to them as it doesn't really add up

nah I don't agree id be 99% sure its a jdm car, if I was interested id view it as its easy to see if it is or not in the flesh.
it will run a twin scroll turbo so no burble and also have auto ic spray switch .

but the big giveaway to me is the rear wiper.

Yeah I agree it's jdm, plus an original hawk not front end changed. I was referring to the uk clocks mate just to make sure maybe they wanted uk ones for the speedo or something?

the jdm will be in km and require a convertors to be in miles, putting uk clocks in is an easy fix.

but id be wary of the mileage due to different clocks being fitted.

i.e. the jdm car had done 100,000 miles now it has uk clocks reading 20.000

an easy way to lose a few thousand and added to that losing the jdm sweeping clocks which most people much prefer.

all in all an odd solution, maybe above board but you never know.

the rear lights is nothing to worry about as its better than having a hole cut for a fog light or one hanging underneath

Yep I've always been baffled by people cutting holes or hanging a dreadful fog off the bumper when you can wire it up in the cluster. That's what I did on my then v1 sti looks oem then.

if I had a jdm car id do the same, the clocks is an odd fix though and that's the thing that would concern me or to be more specific the mileage.

Also has a different air scoop with breaker/2nd hand parts dealer writing on it still

It ain't got 18" wheels either, If it's only had 1 owner it should still have the import paperwork and mot's to prove mileage, It's not been registered in Ireland by any chance has it, If it has you're gonna find it hard to fin out if it's totally legit.

Interesting that it says it's a 2005 model not registered until 2009, and the plate is a non-dating one.

And those clocks - 17k in 4 years?

Questions that would need answering.

Looks nice mind you !

its a northern Ireland plate, but they are also a cheap way of putting a private reg on.

the writing could be cambelt or oil change info, I have seen that on cars before.

id check it out as it may be ok but certain things don't add up.

That's a good shout.

don't confuse my country with northern Ireland
we have our own plates that are nothing like uk reg plates.
