Default Will a ppp exhaust and ecu from a wagon impreza straight swop to a saloon?

As per title, and also is this a good idea?

Yes and not worth the bother.

Just put an exhaust and filter on your car and get the current ecu mapped.

I figured it would be a cheap, insurance friendly way of getting some more performance.
It would be off a 2003 and mine is a 2004 (both Wrx).

Is this because a remap would be better performance wise? If the above parts are circa £250 is it still not worth while? I have been advised a remap is 500 quid alone.

An open source remap is £300.
You don't need to tell the insurance company its been mapped or has a fancy panel filter and most won't increase the premium for an exhaust system, but you will need to notify them.

A custom remap is a far better option than the rich generic map you get from the ppp ecu.
