Hey all, open boot on my saloon blob eye, was a loud clunk and a part has sheared off! Its some sort of support that was welded to the panel behind rear seats. Boot wont stay open now. Anybody have any idea what the part is called. The one on the other side looks like it will give way soon aswel.

Boot strut?

Don't think its a strut Jamie, its a rectangular piece of metal with a bend in it. It was supporting some sort of thin metal bar which holds the boot open

Is it like a u bend shape? Starts at the back of the bootlid then goes under that to the actual car?

It's one of the torsion bar supports. It will need to be welded back on and the torsion bar put back under load to hold the boot lid open.
