Hiya I am looking at buying this as my first impreza. It's on a 93/94 plate I have done a bit of research and the catalunya model was released in 97 the guy has said it is a R5 import but I can't find anything apart from its a type of rally spec.
Thanks for ya in put.

Nicer classics out there unless you want a project. Those rear lights and old tints look crap in my view. I don't think it's anything special. Add doesn't seem to be written by a subaru owner, no service information or much history about the vehical.

Catalunya is a UK special edition in Black Mica paint with red flecks. It has 208 bhp as standard, different seats, air con as std and a horiffic catalunya gold badge inside the car. Gold paimted wheels 15" off the Impreza sport also feature.

Above is b latantly copied from somewhere but those pics don't look like a Catalunya...

1997 April
Second UK special edition released. The Catalunya was only available in black with gold wheels with black and red interior and air con as standard. Only 200 off produced to celebrate winning the Catalunyan Rally and the Manufacturer World Rally Championship in 1996, WRX spec

Gearbox no TY752VB5BA might help

GC8EK8D = Catalunya

If it's a wrx it won't have 300 bhp factory standard nor will it be a Catalunya.

It is Japanese manufactured car sold on the Japanese market. In japan known as the R5 Executive with the engine code to match. Known as the catalunya when imported to the UK. If you are looking for specifically a catalunya then this is not the car for you as although it has identical engine components, ECU setup, seats, window frames, wheels, body and everything else it was originally sold for the Japanese market forever to truly be a Japanese import! Lacking plaque and matts therefore is not an original catalunya. I hope this helps you out, nobody has ever heard of the R5 and there are a lot around traveling under the name Catalunya because nobody knows the difference. Many many Thanks Nick
He admits it's not a Catalunya.

Its just an old wrx. Nothing special about it at all.

No such car as an R5 executive either. The guy onvioisly has no clue about imprezas and no clue about his own car. That alone would be enough to put me off.

Wouldn't touch that purely as the owner has no clue, which might mean he has no clue on what oil, parts etc to use.

The fact it has those lights and tints just puts me right off.
Those seats are nothing like Catalunya seats!
The link Gregsti01 shows a nice example I think although an old add shows you what you can get for sub 2k that at least in pics looks quite decent.

Bidding has ended.

How long before the lucky new owner wishes he'd never started?

To be fair £1200 isn't too bad for an import WRX. Replace the rear lights and take the tints off then it's ok.

It's a reasonable price.

I paid £1,800 for my WRX.

However, as per lots of previous posts, why say it's something it obviously isn't (I was the second owner of Cat 192) and also give stupid, conflicting descriptions ie. ""Body work almost perfect. No dents larger than a thumb!" " ( courtesy of 'Blue for You').

Leave it.
You'll go to sleep thinking 'That's the car I want' but three months down the line you'l be thinking 'Thank God those guys from ScoobyNet advised caution'.
