Default Will I lose power going from 3 inch to 2.5 inch exhaust?

I'm contemplating swapping my revolution 3 inch turbo back system for a quieter 2.5 inch system. Only reason being is that it's a bit too loud (for me anyway!) my car has been mapped (running approx power 270bhp) will it affect the running/performance if I swap systems?
Cheers

You might even notice the peak torque lower down the revs. :-)

I was just about to say the same thing, having owned one on a classic with a Sports cat. Running a 3" decat by any chance?

Yes mate it's an old revolution system with an oval tail pipe & no cats anywhere to be seen! Do you think I could swap the down pipe for a sports cat? Would it fit to the existing system? As it looks like its a decat downpipe but all as one piece, which extends right under the car to where the next cat would have been located. (I hope that makes sense?!)
Cheers
