Angry My car versus deer

Had a bump with a deer at the weekend.....

First opinions do you think that the car is totalled? Needs new bonnet, headlight, front bumper, slam panel, grille...

Proper gutted it just came out from nowhere via a hedge!! Credit to Subaru though, was able to limp it home despite the best intentions of bambi...

No offence to bambi, but I didn't even check what happened to it, pulled over when I could and checked the damage on my car. Had a look on my way back and couldn't see anything.

Could've had venison steaks for the rest of the year if I was thinking straight ; )

Well, you cant really do a lot if vaults the hedge and makes off...

I dont have a FAC but do have a shot gun license, but the law dictates that you cannot stalk deer with a shot gun. Not that i every carry it in the car anyway!

I love venison too.

Same thing happened to me nearly 5 years ago in my hawkeye. The deer that hit me was bigger than yours. I needed new bumper, bonnet, headlight, headlight washer bottle and nearside wing.

Cost fitted and painted by AF Noble Subaru was 3600 quid.

In October i can stop telling insurers about it as it will be 5 years.

Sorry to see that mate, Could have been worse ( for you ).

I have a bonnet & front slam panel for sale if interested? Your car is no write off but i wouldn't bother going through insurance.

The deer is probably fine, they are pretty tough, you'd never get hold of it anyway, it would be half a mile away by the time you stopped the car and got after it, that's if you had some dogs that could find it and hang onto it, for that you'd need a couple of decent sized German wire haired pointers, which I doubt very much you would get in the back of a saloon.

Anyway, glad your ok, looks like an insurance job to me, and the pics are nice proof.

On a side note I was once in a wood in full camo pigeon shooting and two deer wandered right up in front of me less than 10 feet away before they knew I was there, but I only had a 20 gauge with some 6's it was sooooooo tempting.

PLEASE don't go through Insurance.
Subarus have the least claims, and it would be nice to stay like that.

Back to reality, glad you're OK and the car will see another day (hopefully the beast too).
And I hope you can get it back to what it was quickly.

Just wanted to add that it is legal to humanely dispatch an injured deer with a sg.

Bad luck OP, at least it didn't flip over the bonnet and come through the windscreen!

Could have been a lot worse, they often come in two's and three's. had it been followed by others, you would have collect the lot.

Similar happened to me a while ago, fortunately I didn't hit them. The 1st came out across the road and I stood the van on its nose it was followed by a 2nd, by this time I was rapidly running out of room, had there been a 3rd (fortunately not) I would have collected that one. So I had a lucky near miss with that time.

Glad your ok though, they are solid and can do an awful lot of damage

Repair it bud, plenty of breakers yards with bonnets, slam panels and such. Think there is even a set of blobeye lights for sale at the moment in the for sale section.

Hewlett Packard f200 is the camera. You need these sorts of things with all the scams going on the roads and with wayward wildlife. It's about £125
