New member + looking for a scooby
Hi new here, and looking for my first impreza (newage).
Found one on ebay but the history puts me off, registration is X694 GBC, if anyone knows of it. It has had a private plate on in the past which whilst on a different car was stolen (the car I mean, not just the plate) so registration checks come up with 'stolen recovered', as the seller has explained.
In the ad it says 'basically a WRX in a Sti shell', which confuses me (and I'd prefer a WRX for insurance purposes)
So I'm asking the experts is it a WRX (made to look like a Sti) or a Sti (with a WRX engine, which throws up many more questions)?
Link to ebay ad..

Thanks in advance

It's sold now anyway. More hassle that it was worth in my opinion, honestly don't understand sellers who don't put a full explanation in the ad, literally spent the last week emailing the seller asking this that and the other and still got nowhere
So, still in the market for a newage WRX, 2000-2004 model in blue. I have an Audi A4 B6 diesel estate to p/x (to the value of 3 grand) + money for the 'right' scooby..

I'd leave well alone. There's far too many question marks over this car and as for the 'wrx in an STI shell' comment, that alone deserves a slap. It's a WRX with a few add ons that's all. You'd have to declare those mods to the insurance company anyway. There's far straighter more honest cars out there. Also the faults listed are said to be very minor. If they were that minor surely you'd get them sorted out before selling the car. Never buy a car that casts doubt in your mind.

You've done the right thing, asking for advice etc. first.
Interestingly the Ebay listing shows that it was pulled by the seller due to 'an error in the lsiting'.
Einstein's advice is very sound.
That car isn't the one that got away and it can't turn into spilt milk for you.
Good luck hunting a decent one down.
