Default Subaru specialist near Woodford (east London)

Hi guys

I recently bought (28 April 2013) myself an MY99 Subaru Impreza Sport. I've had both sides and bumpers re-sprayed and had a Afterburner Vortex back box fitted, so will do an introduction page at some point, as there are a few other things on my list I'd like to do.

I was wondering if there are any Subaru auto shops that I might not know of in my area.

The two I know of in my area:
- Woodford Motor Company = very unhelpful & expensive
- Tony at Woodbridge Auto = very helpful and thankful for that

After we weren't able to get my CEL sorted (ECU wasn't storing any error codes), I'd like to get my car's ECU checked/reset, plus I want to get my automatic gearbox (re)mapped so that the 'D' is set to fuel economy (for daily driving) and the 'Power' to fuel guzzler (for Sunday road trips).

Thank you in advance...

Kind regards
Dyllan

Hi Dyllan

You can read Error codes via diagnostic cables under steering wheel(think on Simon@JGM website is how to do),but on yours model should work OBD II port

Some OBD machines will not read Airbag,ABS or TCU codes for this you will need something like is Subaru Select Monitor(SSM),which usually most of garages have

In yours area is FB Tuning, people over here will PM you his telephone number,if not I would suggest Neil@Slowboy racing,he is based just outside of the Brands Hatch

And about the mapping yours, not sure if yours ECU can be mapped via EcuTek just due is not available on yours, maybe dealers of the EcuTek this can confirm

Second option is EcuLab,maybe they can help you and from reading just website looking like promising competition to the EcuTek and ESL(ESL board for 99-00 models is only in testing stages, but hopefully will be available in coming months)

Here is website:

http://eculabs.fr/

About the remapping yours Autobox 4EAT(adjusting shifting points) is not possible at moment, just due you will need reprogram yours TCU and at the moment is not possible just due tools for mapping TCU are not available for Impreza, not sure if someone will try this again, but I'm not very optimistic on this

Previously I've wagon which has been equipped with 4EAT and I've spoke with several people about the TCU and they said, simply is hard to do and financially unreliable, few companies tried to do so,but they started, but never finished this

Only what I know has been possible on Subaru has been TCU mapping on the older SVX

Hope this helps

Jura

Cheers Jura, your post has helped tremendously. I will get it all checked out and see what can and can't be done.
