It's possible to do it, but the management systems have a number of differences, just one being the fact of dual AVCS. You'd be better off either forging the 2.5 or using an EJ22 stroker.
It would be a pity to devalue the car with a bodge.
We've fixed a good many of these, and they stay fixed.

Being fair, I didn't say it couldn't be done, I just said it may not be a good idea.

Wouldn't be cost effective I don't think Matty as it would still need heads and an ecu that can control dual avcs, Best option IMO is either refresh the knackered one or drop a complete 2.0l in inc heads and then sell on the dual avcs ones to recoup some cash.

Spoil sport.

Could he get a JDM long engine with dual avcs? and would he then need the ecu and loom or not?

or some really fat gaskets. doh or thin ones.

I read it as if the op had a complete sti8 long engine.
Could he not just drop that in and add a second hand syvecs ??

OoPPs, note to self read the OP properly.

Surly shirley if you have all the relevant parts it's just a case of time.

I'd fit the full engine and I doubt the loom etc would take much figuring out if you have both/everything required sat in front of you.

P.s wires don't scare me, I was a auto accessory installation technician for 20 odd yrs.

OP hasn't stated the damage to his 2.5
( knackered ) as in ?
Cost efficiency , time , ease , & expense
All play there part in this scenario

JDM hatchback using same/similar dual AVCS this means he can use his ECU and he will don't need any kind of the loom

Why not just forge the engine and go down the stroker route?

The way I read that is they are turning 2.0L heads into 2.5L heads.

So he can in effect just drop the 2.0L JDM long engine in and remap.

So can the op stick his 2.0 lump in once he finds out which loom to use or which bits to splice together, then just run the avcs heads with aftermarket management?

Sounds to me like he's wanting to get the motor running using the bits he has without spending 1000's on rebuilds/forging which is fair enough.

Not everyone has 3-5k to throw at a forged motor lol

You hit the nail on the head, my thought was why spend money if you have loads of bits
I pulled the sump of the 2.5 and the 2 centre big ends have about 1 to 1.5 mm of play
so think the crank will be shot

Ok job done so far so good, I needed the ramp so had to get it done so
got stuckin striped both engines to blocks and swapped all the 2.5 inlet and and any thing that i could over to the 2.0 then put it back in the car
turned the key and its a go. Got the check engine light on but thought it would be with no ex cam timeing and no engine warmup motor thing
so a phone call or 2 on monday to see who can map out the bugs
then stainless exhaust and a few little bits and bobs and good to go
