More power advice
Currently running this setup
Wrx wagon with
VF35 Turbo
STi Intercooler
STi pink injectors
STi up-pipe
Prodrive sports cat downpipe
Ported and wrapped headers
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Green cotton panel filter
ECUTEK remap by Jolly Green Monster
310/290 @ Surrey RR
I know I can't get much more outta this. So my dilemma is do I get a different engine and sti gearbox or buy an sti as a better base

I would think I sti set up would cost you £1500 for a 6 box and diff. £2000 for a decent engine, Off the top of my head .Sti come with a nicer interior and better braking set up. I would get the sti as they will hold their value more.

Depends how far you want to go.
As per yours spec, think Prodrive sport cat holding you back, maybe swapping for decatted downpipe will be better idea
WRX engine is not strongest, but if its treated correctly should be OK for 360-400bhp,above that, not sure
Gearbox is same,if you treat gearbox as normal,he should last 350bhp(some people run their WRX boxes in 400bhp without the issue)
About the doing conversion on yours for STi engine plus gearbox, not sure if its worth,if you want to keep yours wagon,I would say think about this
We done similar and really in wagon have nice 340-360bhp is awesome and use-able for day to day driving, above 400bhp you will need have look on better clutch and those clutches are not the best in day to day driving(I would recommend to you drive once Twin plate, you will hate this clutch),gearbox choices, depends if you like 5 speed gear ratios,I would go with PPG,if you thinking get 6 speed, then try before you buy(gear ratios on 6 speed I don't like)
Similar with the engine,if you thinking get STi engine, have look on next option and this get yours engine build to 2.1L,we run our 2.1L(based on WRX block) at 490bhp without the issue

I'd swap the sports cat for a decat, Harvey trick uppipe and maybe frontmount that would get the max out of ur setup. Next step would be bigger turbo an injectors but that's probably not a good idea on wrx lump an a 5 speed!!
