I found the electonic fake ones offer a better performance increase - I got 35bhp on my classic sport, add to that the 12bhp from the roof vent and 18bhp from the stickkers I now have enough power to leave the Gobstopper in my tracks

Yes you should fit one, usually gives you an extra 90 bhp at the wheels, my advice would be to fit a aerodynamic fake roof scoop and a body kit from the famous plough scooby to enhance the aerodynamics further!

I am considering fitting an electronic dump valve.
Does it restrict the flow of crap from my **** or does it increase the flow of crap from my mouth?

Don't forget to fit a magic tree air freshener as this squeezes out another 5bhp

Whoa, don't knock the magic tree!
It doubles up as a G-meter when hung from the rearview....

You don't need a dump valve, just drive really badly like I do and hit alot of curbs, the tyres make way more of a woooosh and popping noise , just gets a bit expensive

Have I missed something?

The OP asked about a dump valve and we've diversified into magic trees, roof vents and all sorts. All they want is advice on fitting a dump valve.

I can understand the roof vent - have it open and the dump valve sounds even more impressive.

A trawl of scooby ads reveals an awful lot of scoobys with dump valves so clearly they are regarded as useful.

Surely a whole mass of Ebayers can't be wrong?

Dump valves sell cars - fact.

DON'T buy a dumpvalve.

Every time you see a suitable gang of schoolgirls, chavs etc, just lean out of the window and shout, "Look at me! PLEASE look at me!!!" as you pass.

Much cheaper, but unfortunately, you'll still look a t!t.

Must admit, although I am fairly new to Impreza ownership I did have a few questions about said valves…but having searched through some old threads and read pages and pages or literature on them all my questions were answered.

Coming from a VW forum where every single thread is torn to shreds by forum heros, I really can’t understand why you guy get SOOOOOO many threads on dump valves

honestly don't get one, yes they sound cool (ish) to begin with, but they look awful when you open the bonnet, often they foul the bonnet, they make your car idle like ****, your always putting your foot down just so you can hear it...

i got one because i wanted one, two weeks later i took it off!

what i dont get is ive seen quite a few videos posted of seriously well sorted and tuned cars from this site at track days etc and on you tube and quite a few of them had dump valves.seems to be some sort of dump valve snobbery? if it goes whoosh ie the "chavvy" valve you get shot down in flames, if it chirps like a half dead parrot then thats ok.
