Default scooby dump valve?

This question has probably been asked loads but im a new scooby owner so hear we go, im thinking of getting a dump valve fitted, after doing online research some people have been saying that after market dump valve dont work very well with scoobys and can even reduce bhp, because of this they then go on to say they refitted the orginal recirculating oem blow off valve, so my question is does my scooby (54 plate 2.0 wrx sti ppp) have a. manufactures blow off valve fitted ? If I did decide to get a blow off valve which is the best one to buy?

What a great first post fella,be prepared for a lot of stick and banter, you will be better off doing a search on the subject on here, welcome to scoobynet
And your car should have a recirculating valve if its standard and is perfectly good at what it does,no need to change it.

Scooch1991, to avoid all the stick you're about to receive, as a friendly scoobynetter, I would advise you to pm scoobynets seller of dump valves TubbyTommy, he can also supply them. I think he also sells fake roof vents, which I assume you want aslo?

FFS leave him alone! Or her - I bet the mood would change if it was a Megan fox look alike.

Welcome to the site. I know nothing about dv's but mine was fine. You do what you want.

You want stickers, fake roofs and gold chanes you do that. Give this lot the finger and enjoy.

However. IF it effects your car in a bad way then it's your fault not mine. But I do love the dump sound.

So very true !

Yes, welcome Scooch.
Not so much a warm welcome as a volcanic one.

BUT if you ever make a post that doesn't contain the dreaded D*** V**** words together rest assured that you'll get all the help you need.

Take a look at this thread from a first post:

I think we should have section in the technical area for dump valves, dedicated to Tommytubby and to those who can't use the search function

You don't want a dump valve, what you need is a turbonator. See below

don't forget to get a dumpvalve that has an adjustable giggle pin or you will cause problems in your muffler bearings.

also when it has been fitted for a few miles check the torque on your overcoils as these can work loose.

A dump valve tends to get the turbo encabulator dirty, so this needs to be cleaned weekly.

if your impreza has the dual underhead camshaft this may need a slight map tweak to run correctly.

then your next mod should be handling, so id fit a suspension governor and some bolt on weight reduction.

hope this helps.....

MODS !!!!

Can I - nah, I am going to - make a suggestion.

How about a sticky that says "NEW TO THE FORUM? - PLEASE READ THIS !!!!" and then explain that a lot of new members initially ask questions or for help. In that case use the search facility eg. if you have a question about Dump valves enter dump valve in the search box.

This will prevent the forum possibly being wrongly regarded as a bunch of Subaru supremacists rather than ordinary people who enjoy banter but who are also VERY well informed.

PS - do I have to put a naughty word in so that this post gets Mods' attention ?

Come on, get this in the right section - it needs to be in the bugs section surely - IB, please fix the search function so whatever anyone with less than 100 posts searches for the results are always 'should I fit a dump valve?'

After reading this:

"Introducing the new "Venturi Drive Super Sound Blow Off Valve" with Deep Metal Coating The all new ribbed main body dissipates heat more effectively and the venturi shaped funnel creates a sharp dynamic sound."

Surely every car should have one ?

I'll certainly consider it for the wife's Corsa CDTi.
Probably add hundreds to the resale value.

With a new and improved sound and smaller installation box the Saber-edv V3 now offers a realistic sounding dump valve sound than ever before!

The main feature of the Saber-edv is to simulate the Dump Valve PPTTTSSSSSS sound. The benefit being you won't have to cash out on a turbo kit, and this baby will not increase your insurance premium either
The new saber-edv V3 uses the latest MP3 technology, meaning no loss of quality or sound.
The Saber V3 is smaller, more compact, & the new CARBON STYLE box looks awesome. The Saber V3 is also easier to install, fitting should only take about 45minutes.
The Saber-edv V3 will NOT increase your insurance premium, you will have all the sounds & style of a turbo but without any of the expensive costs.
The fake dump valve simulator is the only dummy blow off valve on the market that not only gives you a genuine sound by using MP3 Technology but also activates at the precise moment using a micro switch fitted behind the accelerator pedal.
When you back off the accelerator to change gear, the system activates the LOUD air dumping sound PPTTTTSSSSSSSS
