Eclipse chip.
Opened up my ecu last night to find one of there chips in there.
Ecu is a early 4plug 7d ecu car is running a turbo back system and walboro pump,tdo5 turbo and boosting to around 14psi dropping to 12ish at higher revs.
Presuming the previous owner fitted it in hope it would be suffice for the mods on car.
Only info I can find on them is that they are £49 on eBay lol.

Anyone?
Just wanting to know if its just a generic map similar to that of the other chips or just a bag of ****? I'm looking at going fowl the esl route but no point wasting cash if this will suffice as have no plans to up the power anymore just want the engine to be safe with the de cat ?

A 96/97 uk classic turbo.
Previous owner said she had a tdo5 turbo, from researching believe this to be standard on early classics, she has a k and n filter (annoyingly didn't come with airbox so can't replace with panel filter) and a turbo back 3" exhuast, owner said it had been remapped but on seeing the 7d ecu with just this chip and not a daughter board I'm sceptical
Car runs fine no boosts spikes or fuel cut, holds boost fine although think the dump valve is leaking a tad.
But been advised that its not safe to run on boost without the correct map. Is this down to boost spikes or running lean and fuelling and ignition not being right?.
Is there any other options I can go for with the 4 plug ecu as there's a few ecua on eBay with daughter boards with maps installed could I just plug and play with one of these or would it still need mapping

Your car would of had a td04 fitted originally so yep, its been swapped.
Whenever you mod a car its always best to get a custom map to suit your actual car/engine. Generic maps and chips are really not the best route, every car is different.
The best option for you is to get the car to a dyno. Let them run it and see what they think. At least then you will know if things need tweaking etc.
Mapping wise, see the link below....

This is your best bet.

Cheers for the info mate.
I have been looking at the esl route, going to get her on rollers first as would rather do a few more mods and then get her mapped if I can.

Best advice is to collect all the mods you want. Put them to one side until you have everything you want. Then shortly before your mapping session fit them.
This is a decent list and will see power in the region of 320bhp with your current turbo.
Full decat turbo back system (or with sports cat down pipe)
3 port boost solenoid
Newage wrx top mount intercooler
Id also throw that knN away and fit standard airbox with decent panel filter.
New set of plugs wouldn't hurt either.
Then get the esl up and running. The mods above can be had for less than £400 and I believe the esl is about £300 plus the mapping and offers great feature and value for money.
